ABOUT THE TEAMThe engineering team is responsible for all technology powering Bestow and the Bestow Platform. We support our employees, consumers, and enterprise partners by delivering reliable, secure, and scalable systems. Our functional teams include product engineering, infrastructure, IT, data and analytics, martech, and program management. We work closely with product management and design to build the right solutions and continuously improve our platform.
This role reports to the Manager of Engineering and is open to remote employees in the U.S. (48 contiguous states only.)
WHAT YOU'LL DOAs a Staff Platform Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of foundational infrastructure systems that power Bestow’s products. You will architect complex solutions, set direction for technical initiatives, and influence cross-functional roadmaps. Your impact will extend beyond code – shaping the practices, standards, and strategy of the platform engineering group.
You’ll serve as a trusted technical partner across engineering, collaborating with stakeholders to identify systemic pain points and leading the delivery of platform capabilities that scale with the company. You will mentor engineers across levels and help grow the team’s capabilities through code, design, and thoughtful leadership.
If you're looking to shape the infrastructure of a modern cloud-native platform and drive high-impact technical strategy, we’d love to talk.
Challenges you’ll lead and shape:
Own Complex Cloud Infrastructure Initiatives
Design, implement, and evolve large-scale systems and foundational infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
Define and advocate for architectural patterns and reliability principles across services and teams.
Lead infrastructure-wide refactors, migrations, or modernization efforts (e.g., multi-region expansion, CI/CD scalability, cloud cost optimization).
Lead Platform-Wide Developer Enablement
Build and own critical internal platforms that accelerate delivery for product engineers.
Set the vision for observability, release safety, and configuration management strategies.
Identify inefficiencies and lead cross-functional efforts to improve the overall developer experience.
Guide Operational Excellence and Resilience
Lead the definition of SLOs, incident response practices, and resilience strategies across engineering.
Drive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements, promoting a culture of reliability and learning.
Define tooling and processes that reduce operational burden and improve recovery times.
8+ years of experience designing and operating cloud-native systems at scale (e.g., GCP, AWS).
You’re an expert in infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation (Terraform, Pulumi, ArgoCD, CircleCI, etc.).
You’re deeply familiar with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and can optimize for security, performance, and reliability.
You have a strong software engineering background and are comfortable in languages like Go, Python, or TypeScript.
You lead by influence and have a track record of driving alignment across teams through design docs, RFCs, and technical strategy.
You mentor others with empathy and raise the technical bar through thoughtful code reviews and architectural guidance.
You seek out high-leverage opportunities and operate with a product mindset, always considering long-term outcomes.
