As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader, driving system evolution with a focus on Correctness, Reliability, Performance, and Observability. You will work closely with engineering leadership to ensure technical strategy aligns with business goals and supports the product vision. By leading architectural initiatives and mentoring engineers, you’ll guide the evolution of distributed systems, enhancing scalability and resilience. With a deep understanding of modern system design, you will ensure solutions adapt swiftly to changing product needs. Your work will include defining technical initiatives, collaborating with development teams to deliver impactful results, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership and Problem-Solving: Act as a technical expert and go-to resource for resolving complex challenges. Lead technical designs for major initiatives, ensuring architecture principles and standards are followed. Regularly engage in team development work, providing hands-on support and oversight.

Architecture and System Design: Shape and maintain architecture roadmaps, influencing both team-level and enterprise strategies. Conduct technical design reviews, guide experiments and tool evaluations, and drive proof-of-concept initiatives. Partner with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Infrastructure teams to ensure scalable and maintainable system designs.

Cross-Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Work across multiple teams, providing technical leadership on critical projects. Mentor engineers, lead training initiatives, and facilitate Communities of Practice to drive shared technical growth. Support teams working with legacy systems, helping to modernize and improve foundational codebases.

Operational Excellence: Champion a culture of quality, partnering with quality teams to shape continuous integration and delivery pipelines. Investigate solutions for non-functional requirements, including performance, scalability, monitoring, and alerting. Track progress on technical initiatives and foster a strong feedback loop within and across teams.

Pay ranges at Yext are established based on an analysis of salaries for positions with a similar level of accountability and impact in the relevant labor market. Salary levels are expected to change to reflect an employee’s job performance (results and impact) over time. Salaries at the time of hire are typically offered in the lower to middle of the above-referenced range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect performance-based increases over time. In addition to base salaries, employees at Yext are typically eligible for a comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental and vision benefits; life insurance; short term and long-term disability; 401(k) retirement plan; and vacation and sick leave. Successful candidates may also be eligible for equity (stock) based compensation and/or variable pay programs based on performance relative to goals and targets.

Annual Base Pay Range
$166,950$342,000 USD
