Staff AI/ML Software Engineer
About the Role
The Staff AI/ML Software Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for architecting complex AI/ML systems and driving technical strategy. In this role, you will lead multiple initiatives, define vision and direction, and solve highly complex problems requiring in-depth analysis. You will establish best practices, mentor team members, and drive innovation in ML methodologies while working closely with cross-functional leadership to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Architect complex AI/ML systems that scale across multiple products or services
  • Drive technical strategy for ML systems and set direction for implementation teams
  • Lead multiple technical initiatives simultaneously with high business impact
  • Solve complex problems requiring in-depth analysis and novel approaches
  • Establish best practices, standards, and frameworks for ML development
  • Mentor and develop team capabilities in advanced ML techniques
  • Influence technical decisions across teams and organizational boundaries

Must Have Skills

  • ML Systems Architecture: Deep expertise in designing large-scale, robust ML systems with complex requirements
  • Advanced ML Algorithms: Mastery of ML algorithms, optimization techniques, and their practical applications
  • Technical Leadership: Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive consensus on complex ML approaches
  • System Optimization: Expert knowledge in optimizing ML systems for performance, cost, and scalability
  • Innovation in ML: Ability to explore and apply cutting-edge ML research to solve difficult business problems
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with product, business, and engineering stakeholders at senior levels

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in machine learning engineering
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex ML projects with significant business impact

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $125,250 to $187,875.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.

  • This position includes medical, vision and dental coverage, 401k, paid vacation, holidays, and sick time, and other benefits.
