As a Staff Developer Advocate, you will inspire developers to build using DigitalOcean's AI capabilities, create technical content, write code, and provide feedback to improve the developer experience.
As a Developer Advocate, you will inspire and equip software developers to build with DigitalOcean as part of the Developer Advocacy team under the broader Developer Relations organization. This role is primarily, though not exclusively, focused on our set of AI capabilities, which range from bare metal GPUs up through our GenAI stack. This role will drive developer awareness and adoption with our current and upcoming AI products.
Responsibilities:- Create content that inspires and equips developers to build with DigitalOcean. We aim to get developers to “aha!” moment with DigitalOcean as quickly as possible and then equip them to adopt increasingly advanced features of our platform. This content may come in the form of written tutorials, long-form videos on YouTube, or in-person events.
- Write code that enables developers to be successful with DigitalOcean. This code will be a key input into the content that is created and will be available as open source for developers to use in their own applications.
- Provide feedback to our Product teams based on your own experience as well as from developers in our community to improve our developer experience.
- Work with and provide feedback to the other Developer Relations teams, Social, Community and Content, that are peers to the Developer Advocacy team that this role is on. For example, reviewing the Social team’s answers to programming questions on social media when they need AI/ML expertise.
- Decide how to scale our developer relations efforts. As we see success with our execution in videos, events, workshops, and other tactics, we’ll need to figure out the best way to invest in efficiently and effectively scaling up those executions to authentically serve even more developers.
- Background in machine learning and statistics
- Ability to code in at least one major programming language such as Python, JavaScript/Type, Java or C#
- Demonstrated previous experience in creating publicly-available high quality, customer-facing technical content such as videos, written content, research publications
- Self-starter attitude, empathetic, and motivated to serve developers and make the colleagues around you better
- We innovate with purpose. You’ll be a part of a cutting-edge technology company with an upward trajectory, who are proud to simplify cloud and AI so builders can spend more time creating software that changes the world. As a member of the team, you will be a Shark who thinks big, bold, and scrappy, like an owner with a bias for action and a powerful sense of responsibility for customers, products, employees, and decisions.
- We prioritize career development. At DO, you’ll do the best work of your career. You will work with some of the smartest and most interesting people in the industry. We are a high-performance organization that will always challenge you to think big. Our organizational development team will provide you with resources to ensure you keep growing. We provide employees with reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education. All employees have access to LinkedIn Learning's 10,000+ courses to support their continued growth and development.
- We care about your well-being. Regardless of your location, we will provide you with a competitive array of benefits to support you from our Employee Assistance Program to Local Employee Meetups to flexible time off policy, to name a few. While the philosophy around our benefits is the same worldwide, specific benefits may vary based on local regulations and preferences.
- We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
- We value diversity and inclusion. We are an equal-opportunity employer, and recognize that diversity of thought and background builds stronger teams and products to serve our customers. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully.
