Position Summary
We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist with experience developing predictive models based on energy to support applications across the company, including predictive maintenance, savings predictions, and more. Our ideal candidate has substantive experience in machine learning and energy data applications, is comfortable owning and prioritizing a roadmap independently, and has experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements, share results, and drive adoption of data models. In this role, you will scope, prioritize, and execute data modeling projects for teams across the company to use in order to operate more effectively based on energy data. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the Analytics team to increase our understanding of the energy production and consumption and guide development of ML-friendly energy datasets.
Responsibilities
- Develop Machine Learning models based on energy data to support a range of use cases across the company
- Work with stakeholders in Operations and Maintenance, Consumer Solutions, and other teams around the company to scope and prioritize data modeling projects that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their teams
- Establish best practices for measuring the performance of data models both offline and online and use results educate non-technical stakeholders on value and lifecycle of data products
- Mentor team members on ML projects and take part in tool selection decisions
- Provide guidance to Analytics Engineers on data modeling needs of ML systems
Requirements
- MS in DS, Statistics, MIS, or related technical degree or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years' experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role
- 7+ years' hands-on experience using SQL or a similar language for data manipulation
- 5+ years' hands-on experience using Python or a similar language for statistical programming
- Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining ML models in MLFlow and/or AWS Sagemaker, including models based on energy production and/or consumption data
- Experience evaluating ML models and communicating results to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to productionize and drive adoption of ML models
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to translate business needs into impactful ML modeling projects
