Our Opportunity:

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere. The Chewy Product Design and Research team embraces this vision, crafting experiences that aim to delight customers (and the businesses and veterinarians that support them) with outstanding ease and convenience, empowering them to keep their pets happy and healthy. We are a hard-working, collaborative, and fun-loving team of designers, researchers, and builders, on the lookout for creative and driven talent to join the pack.

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer in Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA offices only to lead the creation of thoughtful and engaging experiences for our customers. This requires earning trust cross-functionally, thinking big, continuous innovation, a bias for action, coupled with thoughtful experimentation. The ideal candidate will be a systems-level design problem solver and visionary, with strong customer instincts and outstanding design intuition.

Our team works on innovating our flagship Chewy platforms and developing new products and services across the entire Chewy ecosystem. You might be helping pet parents find just the right toys, food, and medicine to keep them happy and healthy. Supporting pet parents in finding their next pet and being there to answer urgent questions using veterinarian telemedicine. Ensuring that our customer care and fulfillment teams have tools to wow our customers with seven-star service.

What You'll Do

  • Transform customer and business objectives into compelling products that have purpose, simplicity, and are feasible to build.
  • Lead innovative and systems thinking across a range of products, platforms, and devices with a bias for action and a customer focus.
  • Guide the design process from end to end: Discovery and concept ideation, flows and wireframes, and full-fidelity prototype designs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, content strategists, user researchers, and other designers.
  • Champion cohesion and consistency to unite a growing family of products while building a culture of invention and innovation.
  • Clearly present your design process, inspiration, and decisions to collaborators, including C-suite executives.
  • Champion Chewy's culture and principles within the group and set new standards for executional and operational excellence.

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role
  • 1+ years of experience leading large-scale product design initiatives.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality digital products that delivered results and demonstrate the depth of your design skills; illustrated in a portfolio or case studies.
  • Confirmed experience communicating and presenting complex problems clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate the customer and business impact of your design decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent degree) in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience with the design field.
  • Position may require travel and will require time in the local office.

Bonus:

  • Experience designing complex UGC mobile products and experiences
  • Ability to lead end to end process from discovery to delivery
  • Thrives in fast paced, start-up environment
  • Can flex in other areas such as IA or UX/UI or VD

Hub Locations & Work Arrangement:

  • Hub Locations: Bellevue, WA | Boston, MA
  • Hybrid Model: 2+ days in hub location per week
  • Remote: This role is NOT a remote role.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.
