The Staff Cloud Platform Engineer will lead the design and development of cloud infrastructure, improve scalability, and mentor engineers while driving cross-functional initiatives.
Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, you will be an important technical leader within the Cloud Platform team, responsible for shaping the future of Included Health’s core cloud infrastructure and platform. Our Cloud Platform team underpins all of engineering, enabling teams to build, deploy, and scale services reliably and efficiently.
With a lean team and a growing footprint, we’re seeking a Staff Engineer who can provide deep technical leadership, drive cross-functional initiatives, and set the direction for our long-term platform strategy.
You’ll focus on strengthening our cloud foundation—improving scalability, observability, cost efficiency, and developer experience, while mentoring engineers and collaborating across engineering to deliver high-impact, platform-wide outcomes.
You’ll measure success by improvements in system reliability, platform adoption, cost-to-serve, and the overall velocity of engineering teams. This is a role where your work directly influences the resilience, quality, and speed of every product we deliver to our members.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of Included Health’s cloud infrastructure, driving improvements in scalability, cost efficiency, and resilience.
- Partner across engineering teams to deliver cross-cutting infrastructure initiatives spanning containerization, observability, and data services.
- Drive modernization and standardization of platform patterns to simplify development and deployment workflows.
- Mentor and guide engineers across the team, fostering technical excellence and operational maturity.
- Influence the architectural direction for high-impact projects, balancing deep technical rigor with pragmatic delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product, data, and infrastructure partners on initiatives such as AI platform enablement and data warehouse evolution.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of strong software engineering fundamentals with significant experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and influence architectural decisions across teams.
- Deep experience with AWS & GCP, Kubernetes, Gitops, Terraform (or other infrastructure-as-code frameworks), and modern observability stacks(Grafana etc).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability engineering, and cost optimization best practices.
- Track record of mentoring and leveling up engineering teams through process and tooling improvements (on-call, CI/CD, monitoring, incident management etc.).
- Passion for building reliable, developer-friendly platforms that improve the productivity of others.
- Proficiency in one or more of: Go, Python, or similar languages.
Pay:
The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:
Zone A: $174,320-$246,230 + equity + benefits
Zone B: $191,752-$270,853 + equity + benefits
Zone C: $209,184-$295,476 + equity + benefits
Zone D: $226,616-$288,938 + equity + benefits

Starting base salary for you will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include education; training; skills; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; our needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and understanding of geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and great compensation package based on their roles and locations.
