About the Team:

At Netlify, our mission is to empower developers to move faster with solutions that are intuitive, powerful, and a joy to use. We’re looking for a Staff Brand Designer to lead our visual identity and elevate our brand experience across every touchpoint from marketing campaigns and product launches to event branding and community initiatives.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Senior Manager of Design & Research to evolve Netlify’s visual language and brand storytelling. You’ll also collaborate with teams across Product Marketing, Developer Education, and the broader Design org to bring the brand to life through thoughtful execution and enablement.

You’ll join a team of sharp, motivated, and genuinely kind people. We value builders who roll up their sleeves and go big. If you're passionate about visual storytelling, love cross-functional collaboration, and are excited to shape a growing brand, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, developers, and stakeholders to define and evolve a visual language and compelling story that bridges brand and product
  • Design and produce a wide range of brand and marketing assets–including websites, landing pages, social media content, digital ads, presentation decks, eBooks, newsletters, swag, and remote and in-person event materials
  • Ensure a cohesive, clear, accessible, and effective user experience across Netlify’s web properties, aligned with business and brand goals
  • Own and evolve our design system, visual strategy, and processes championing accessibility, quality, and scalable design practices through documentation, best practices, and shared systems
  • Actively give and receive design feedback, fostering a culture of collaboration, quality, and growth
  • Be a visible advocate for design and brand, representing our values both internally and externally
  • Lead and participate in usability testing efforts in partnership with research and product teams
  • Navigate multiple work streams effectively; prioritizing, timeboxing, and bringing structure to ambiguous or shifting initiatives

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience in brand design within the software industry, backed by a strong portfolio showcasing attention to detail, refined aesthetics, and strategic design thinking
  • Proficiency in visual design, user experience, art direction, and brand positioning, with the ability to navigate and contribute across disciplines
  • Comfortable collaborating with developers, especially in the presentation layer (e.g., HTML, CSS), and experienced using tools like Figma and GitHub
  • Strong communicator with the ability to articulate design rationale, incorporate feedback, and align with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with a human-centered approach to supporting growth campaigns and conversion-focused initiatives
  • Enthusiasm for evolving and contributing to design systems
  • Hands-on experience with the end-to-end product design process, from problem definition and information architecture to interaction and UI design
  • Commitment to accessibility, design consistency, and a high standard of craft
  • Operates with autonomy, thrives in cross-disciplinary collaboration, and values shared learning with product and engineering partners
  • Growth mindset: curious, adaptable, and eager to explore new technologies, tools, and methods—including AI.
  • Bonus: experience in complementary areas like UX research, motion design, or content design
  • We welcome candidates based in North America for this position.
  • We don’t have formal education requirements at Netlify—whether you’re self-taught or have a traditional background, we encourage you to apply.

This Role is a Great Fit If:

  • You’ve shaped brand experiences in a tech/saas environment and understand how to translate strategy into thoughtful, cohesive design across touchpoints.
  • You enjoy collaborating across disciplinesworking closely with developers, marketers, and designers to shape and evolve brand experiences.
  • You’re energized by storytelling and love using design to make complex ideas more approachable, engaging, and human.
  • You take a thoughtful, strategic approach to your work, but you’re also comfortable getting into the details and iterating as you go.
  • You find clarity in ambiguity and see it as a space for creativity, not confusion.
  • You care about accessibility, craft, and consistency, and approach design with empathy for both users and teammates
  • You’re curious, open to feedback, and always exploring new ways to grow your skills, whether through new tools, ideas, or technologies like AI.

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
