Opportunity Overview:
We are seeking a Staff Actuary to lead cost savings and impact analytics that quantify the financial and clinical value of Cohere’s programs. This role partners closely with Actuarial, Clinical, Analytics, and Data teams to ensure models accurately reflect product design, outcomes, and ROI, while supporting scalable, data-driven growth.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role with the opportunity to shape Cohere’s actuarial capabilities and directly influence how value is delivered across the healthcare system.
What you’ll do:
- Lead Cost Savings & Impact Modeling: Design and maintain activity- and claims-based models to quantify gross and incremental value, incorporating risk adjustment, utilization patterns, and key cost drivers.
- Methodology Design & Optimization: Develop and refine actuarial methodologies, experience studies, and assumptions to ensure accurate, consistent, and scalable savings and impact measurement.
- Project Leadership & Problem Solving: Own complex actuarial and analytics initiatives end to end, translating ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and actionable insights.
- Data & Technology Partnership: Translate actuarial logic into technical requirements and partner with Data and Engineering teams to support automation, EDW evolution, and reliable reporting.
- Strategic Growth & Opportunity Analysis: Assess the financial impact of new programs and product expansions using forward-looking models and scenario analyses.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Alignment: Collaborate with Clinical Strategy, Clinical Operations, Analytics, Product, Growth, and Customer teams to embed actuarial insights into product design and measurable outcomes.
What you’ll need:
- 8+ years of health actuarial experience with expertise in pricing, medical trend analysis, and cost savings or impact modeling in payer, provider, or consulting settings.
- Strong experience with large healthcare datasets, including claims data (ICD-10, DRG, CPT/HCPCS), medical, provider, and member data required.
- Advanced SQL and Excel required; Python or R preferred.
- Proven ability to own complex analytical initiatives end to end and partner cross-functionally with clinical, product, analytics, and data engineering teams.
- Passion for improving the U.S. healthcare system and delivering measurable clinical and financial impact.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced environments, translating loosely defined problems into structured analyses aligned with business and product strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; ASA or FSA strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
