SimpliSafe is seeking a Sr. UX Design Researcher to join our growing design team. In this role, you will influence and shape the future of our ecommerce store, with the goal of helping all shoppers purchase the security system that fits their needs and budget. 

You will use a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to plan, conduct, synthesize research, and share your findings.

What You’ll Do

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with Product Designers, Product Managers and Data Analysts on our technology squads to effectively plan, manage, and field primary research 
  • Field foundational research to deeply understand our online shoppers and identify their needs during key phases in the shopping journey (i.e. configuring a security system for the first time) 
  • Partner with Product Designs to launch and evaluate usability studies for prototypes
  • Weave together qualitative insights with quantitative data to explain “the why” behind consumer activity onsite, crafting high-quality, memorable presentations 
  • Share knowledge and identify opportunities for new initiatives with researchers and analysts across other teams, including: Business Strategy, Product (app, hardware and monitoring services) and Customer Success. 
  • Foster design thinking and collaboration by planning, hosting and moderating brainstorming sessions based on consumer insights

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep experience in design research, with broad exposure to a variety of qualitative research methodologies such as one-on-one interviews, surveys, moderating group conversations, diary studies, prototype testing, usability testing
  • Expertise with Qualtrics, UserTesting.com, UserInterviews.com, DScout, Wevo, Fullstory or similar tools
  • Experience using AI tools to speed up analysis 
  • Comfortable navigating Figma and analytics dashboards
  • Highly curious and ability to work independently, are self-motivated
  • Proactively speak up to identify new areas for inquiry
  • Desire to actively to contribute to shape design team culture & vision

Preferred

  • 4+ years of consumer research experience (D2C Ecommerce a huge plus)
  • Degree in a human behavior-related field, such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Sociology, Communication, Information Science, Economics, or Computer Science
  • Deep professional experience in applied research outside of academic training. This might include ethnographic-style fieldwork, design research, UX research, etc.
  • Experience evaluating UX prototypes for usability
  • Experience in an experimentation (A/B testing) focused environment
  • Experience managing research vendor relationships

Mandatory

  • Must have an online portfolio showcasing your end-to-end research process, telling the story of how you used consumer insights to influence decision making. Candidates without online portfolios will not be considered.
