The Sr. Software Engineer will be working on the Optum Care Strategic Platform (Facets) and is responsible for delivering large and more complex components for Claims Processing, while influencing overall Architecture, patterns and drives/promotes reusability, prompt Engineering and AI Utilization. The candidate also performs a variety of complicated tasks including production support and troubleshooting.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand Facets delivery processes, client priorities, and business requirements
- Proven ability to adopt new technology footprints and optimize business solutions through AI adoption
- Leverage prompt engineering techniques to accelerate solution design, code development, troubleshooting, and overall engineering productivity
- Apply principles, best practices, and engineering techniques to solve complex technical challenges
- Translate business requirements and functional design into modern, scalable technical solutions
- Work with EDI transactions such as 837 and 835
- Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, and other engineering forums
- Design and develop solutions using C#.NET, Containerization, API development, Kafka, SQL, and AngularJS on the Azure platform.
- Should have solid organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Serve as a Lead/Technical SME for the team, including guiding small teams of engineers
- Mentor software engineers through code reviews, hands-on design sessions, and assist with problem solving related to complex issues
- Unblock the engineering team by providing timely technical guidance
- Deliver solutions free from significant security vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and work in all Agile mechanisms.
- Responsible for end-to-end delivery including detailed design, coding, unit testing, performance testing, integration testing, automation, deployment and ensuring timelines that support rapid speed-to-market
- Develop innovative approaches for performance optimization and automation
- Provide timely task updates to reporting supervisor
- Develop and maintain standards, reusable components, and best practices aligned with industry norms
- Ensure adherence to SLA compliance requirements
- Provide leadership and support during critical production issues
- Work with cross-functional claims operations, architecture, and engineering teams to ensure timely resolution of production issues
- Possess solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years overall IT experience
- 5+ years of development and testing experience in C#/.NET
- 5+ years of senior level applications developer experience
- 5+ years database design and programming experience
- 2+ years of Agile experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Claims Domain
- Engineering and AI development experience
- Proven understanding around Claims pricing, errors, edits, adjustments & payments
- TriZetto Facets Application experience
- Healthcare EDI experience
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes & Docker
