Maxar Space is seeking a Senior RF Communication Systems Engineer to join our Comm Systems Engineering group, located in our Palo Alto, California offices. In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for participating in the development and analysis of system test requirements and systems specifications for the RF payload subsystem. You will work on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors such as cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability impact to schedule, and process improvement. You may participate in Engineering Review Boards.

• The base pay for this position within California is: $113,000.00 - $189,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Responsibilities:
- Serves as the responsible engineer for a subsystem or major portion of the system, specializing in RF Payload integration, test, and verification
- Develops system level requirements and specifications
- Participates in system architecture design, conducting requirements analysis and trade studies
- Leads RF payload testing and troubleshooting during spacecraft integration and verification phases
- Analyzes operational issues and drives the implementation of corrective actions
- Manages internal technical efforts of limited complexity, tracking performance across cost, schedule, and technical domains
- Introduces innovative techniques and solutions within the RF engineering specialty area
- Provides guidance to teams in identifying design issues and implementing technical solutions
- Represents the company in technical discussions with customers and vendors to resolve complex engineering challenges
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, or physics. An additional four years of experience may be substituted for a degree
- 4 years of related experience
- Willingness and ability to accommodate infrequent travel up to approximately 10% of the time and the ability to work off shifts as needed
- Understanding of mathematics and physics as they relate to RF electrical systems and components
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in a specialized field of engineering or science preferred
- Understanding of and proficiency in the use of computer aided design tools such as Microwave Office, Advanced Design System (ADS), or Ansys HFSS
- Experience working with software defined radios or software defined modems
- Experience working with field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs)
