A Brief Overview
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of professional accounting duties including monitoring various general ledger accounts; preparing journal entries and financial analyses; reviewing budgeted versus actual performance; and conducting special analyses and projects as assigned. Evaluates existing procedures for recording financial transaction and recommends methods of reducing time and cost of operations. Monitors work performed by subordinate personnel and acts as a resource person in the resolution of complex accounting problems.

What you will do

  • Journal Entries & Analysis
    a. Utilizes education and experience-based knowledge to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Gathers data and performs complex calculations in order to prepare a variety of schedules and statements to support and/or explain information contained within the financial statements.
    b. Prepares or reviews monthly journal entries and interfaces to ensure all financial statement activity is properly recorded. Prepares schedules and calculations required for all journal entries and performs other highly technical and complex calculations.
    c. Applies advanced accounting techniques in order to evaluate existing procedures for recording financial transactions and recommends methods for improving efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
    d. Assists in the compilation of data for annual reporting requirements. Completes schedules in support of the 990 Tax Returns and client prepared schedules requested by external and regulatory auditors as appropriate.
    e. Analyzes actual performance (expenses and revenues) against budgeted performance and a variety of financial and statistical data in order to determine causes of budget variances, estimate expected expenditures and make recommendations for a more effective use of cash and other resources.
    f. Prepares quarterly and annual regulatory filings (DMHC, CMS etc) in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
    g. Produce and communicate accurate monthly financial results including written financial analysis. Develop and maintain supporting schedules and documentation.
    h. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow up and clear reconciling items in a timely fashion.

  • Collaboration & Communication
    a. Assists in the development of policies and procedures in order to improve the efficiency and timeliness of monthly closing cycles and reporting criteria as required
    b. Answers questions and resolves accounting and reporting issues in a courteous, thoughtful and timely manner. Provides education and support to new personnel in the organization.
    c. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars, conference and the like.
    d. Participates in development of procedures to be utilized in accounting area including areas of improvement for streamlined processes and procedures
    e. Assists with training and providing guidance to junior accounting staff.

  • All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities:
    a. Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
    b. Adheres to safety, P4P’s (if applicable), HIPAA and compliance policies.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related field

Experience Qualifications

  • 5 years related experience in a computerized accounting environment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal/written communication and listening skills; including excellent interpersonal skills and telephone communication.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and systems in order to maintain general ledgers and journals and prepare related financial statements and reports.

  • Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions.

  • Spreadsheet and word processing abilities preferably in a Windows environment.

  • Analytical skills suitable to conduct complex and detailed analyses of various accounting issues and accounting systems.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments within the time allotted and maintain standard workflow.

  • Ability to explain complex accounting and financial information to non-financial people in a courteous fashion. Able to tactfully discuss individual and personal financial information with physicians and their spouses.

  • Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative manner.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $45.94 - $59.73 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
