As JPMorgan Chase's most senior individual contributors, Principal Engineers work on our hardest problems, help establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and engineering methodologies for security products and platforms that delight our customers..

Job responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical leader on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
  • Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  • Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience. You are a visionary leader, builder and an operator.
  • Balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • 10+ years of non-internship professional security/software development experience
  • Practical experience developing security engineering solutions for public cloud-based applications and infrastructure
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine net new solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines
  • Expert in one or more programming languages
  • Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-leading security practices and experience in successfully reviewing and implementing new security-related products
  • Understanding of the business and knowledgeable of the latest internal and external threat trends
  • Significant experience with threat modeling
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
  • Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams and delivering value at scale

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area: large scale full stack development, building complex distributed systems, designing massive global networks.
