THE OPPORTUNITY

Responsible for maintaining, designing, implementing, troubleshooting, administering, and supporting the availability, security, integrity, performance, backup, and recovery of enterprise Oracle relational database environments. The Senior Oracle Database Administrator installs, configures, maintains, patches, monitors, documents, and supports Oracle databases in highly available production and non-production environments, including Oracle 19c; establishes and enforces database standards, procedures, and controls; partners with internal teams, auditors, and external vendors; and provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Administer enterprise Oracle database environments.
• Discuss and suggest database management system improvements, infrastructure platforms, and data-distribution approaches for highly available implementations, including systems operating on a 24-hour basis.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle Database software and related infrastructure, including Oracle 19c environments.
• Assign and control database naming and structural standards, including schemas, tables, indexes, records, database objects, and related conventions.
• Adhere to and support procedures and safeguards for Oracle database security, privileged access, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure database integrity and availability through daily monitoring of Oracle backups, archive and redo logs, alert logs, performance statistics, capacity, and scheduled maintenance activities.
• Design and support highly available Oracle architectures, including controlled replication, disaster recovery, standby database, and clustering technologies as applicable.
• Translate logical database requirements into secure, supportable designs and apply normalization or denormalization when appropriate.
• Plan and execute Oracle database performance tests; monitor workload and system statistics; and tune SQL, PL/SQL, memory, storage, and database configuration to meet service-level objectives.
• Plan and manage tablespaces, datafiles, disk capacity, and space utilization; adjust database objects and storage allocation to optimize performance and resource consumption.
• Implement, document, test, and maintain Oracle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures using RMAN and related Oracle technologies; coordinate recoveries with other IT teams.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot database incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and participate in after-hours support and maintenance as required.
• Maintain current documentation for production, test, development, backup, and disaster recovery database environments, including procedures, configurations, inventories, and recovery runbooks.
• Work with infrastructure, application, security, audit, and vendor teams to communicate requirements, resolve issues, support audits, and ensure timely delivery of required materials.
• Evaluate Oracle environments, tools, design aids, and service offerings; interact with vendors and recommend purchases or improvements where appropriate.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 8 years of equivalent job experience, with six years of experience supporting production database systems, including system analysis and/or programming, and Oracle database administration.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database 19c administration, architecture, security, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability technologies.
• Experience with and competency with Linux/Unix operating systems and enterprise storage-area networks.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position, including but not limited to Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal), and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
• Advanced knowledge of Oracle database administration and programming techniques, SQL and PL/SQL, schema and object management, patching, upgrades, maintenance, documentation, testing, debugging, performance tuning, capacity management, backup and recovery, and production operations.
• Ability to suggest new procedures, discuss and implement enhanced Oracle database administration techniques, automate repeatable operational tasks, and improve existing database services while maintaining security, availability, and recoverability.
• Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; and compute rate, ratio, and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit and cross-functional departments.
• Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management.
• Ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.
• Oracle Certified Professional or comparable Oracle technical certification preferred.
• Experience with ITIL-based service management, project management, and Six Sigma or related quality and process-improvement practices preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
