About the team and the role: 

TCGplayer, now a part of eBay, connects a global community of millions of buyers with tens of thousands of retailers in a $25B global collectible card game and collectible hobbyist space. The Strategy & Business Improvement team helps chart the future of TCGplayer by defining priorities, uncovering opportunities, and guiding decisions that fuel growth. Working across the business, we bring clarity and alignment so that every initiative connects back to our mission of serving the hobbyist community and building the most trusted marketplace for collectibles.

As a Senior Manager of Strategy, you will set strategy with business leaders and ensure that teams are executing on key initiatives that turn strategy into results. You will build financial models, analyze complex data, and translate findings into clear recommendations that inform senior leadership. Your work will help establish strategic pathways that move critical initiatives forward and ensure TCGplayer continues to grow, innovate, and deliver for buyers and sellers worldwide.

What you will accomplish: 
  • Create strategic initiatives that drive growth, efficiency, and customer impact

  • Lead analysis (including creating financial models) to quantify opportunities and tradeoffs

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Develop challenging but achievable strategic initiatives and, when necessary, adjust to respond to changing market conditions and business priorities.

  • Translate insights into clear recommendations and executive-ready presentations that guide company decisions

  • Partner with product, operations, finance, and other teams to bring strategies to life

  • Support annual and long-term planning by informing company goals and priorities

  • Sets sub strategy with functional areas that align to specific goals that support the higher strategy outcomes.

  • Analyzes critical market data and forecasts long view needs and strategic direction relative to business growth.

What you will bring:
  • 8 or more years of experience in strategy, consulting, corporate development, or business operations, ideally within ecommerce or marketplaces, with subsequent in-house strategy or operations roles preferred

  • A deep understanding of eCommerce, marketplaces, or collectibles

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with experience developing executive level recommendations based on analysis

  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver presentations for senior leadership

  • Bias for action with a track record of getting results; end-to-end ownership of strategic initiatives

  • High EQ and experience with C-level presentation, advocacy, and influence

  • Marketplace/TCG passion or expertise (knowledge of TCGs/community)

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$108,400 - $186,400

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
