What we need
The Sr. Manager, PMO will lead a team responsible for advancing Symbotic’s project governance, Project Lifecycle and program delivery excellence. This leader will play a key role in connecting strategy to execution – ensuring that governance processes, program health metrics, and cross-functional alignment drive predictable project outcomes across the Implementation organization.
The role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, process discipline, and hands-on leadership to institutionalize standards, support project managers, and strengthen accountability across project lifecycles. This position reports to the PMO Lead and partners directly with Project Directors, Installation Directors, and other functional leaders within the organization.
What we do
The Program Management Team is a pillar within Symbotic’s PMO and serves as both a controlling and enabling function. It governs the Stage Gate process, defines delivery frameworks, and supports project managers through training, communications, and leadership engagement. The team ensures consistent project execution, drives program visibility, and reinforces Symbotic’s organizational pillars—Deliver Budget, Elevate Talent, and Invest in Development.
What you’ll do
Own the Stage Gate governance framework and ensure cross-functional adherence to inputs, outputs, and timing for all gates.
Drive alignment between Project Execution Stage Gates and Product Development Phase Gates.
Standardize governance documentation and sign-off processes.
Support Project Managers through risk, schedule, and readiness reviews.
Partner with Project Directors to maintain scope, schedule, and cost discipline.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Execution and Business Excellence teams to ensure dashboard consistency and data integrity.
Lead key PMO initiatives including Stage Gate Transformation, Gateway integration, and PM enablement.
Coordinate with the STL Program (Single Thread Lead) to align process improvements and new product/market readiness with PMO governance.
Integrate corporate governance by aligning with Audit, Finance, and operational leaders.
Lead and develop a team of Project Coordinators through 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning.
Manage PM training roadmap and quarterly enablement sessions.
Foster a culture of accountability, service, and simplification.
Track and communicate performance via KPIs, dashboards, and quarterly reports.
Drive process automation in Jira, Smartsheet, and SAP.
Embed lessons learned and structured program reviews with the Business Excellence team.
Manage the PMO Public Service Announcement (PSA) process for standardized, controlled communications.
Develop and execute a PM Engagement Strategy through touchpoints, workshops, and targeted training.
Serve as the central point for cross-functional communication, ensuring consistent messaging, timely escalation, and alignment across PMO and functional teams.
Prepare executive summaries, reports, and leadership communications highlighting progress, value, and impact.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 8 - 10 years of related experience in construction, automation, or material handling.
Experience managing direct reports (3–5 people).
Strong background in scheduling, scope, and cost management for complex projects.
Proven risk management expertise.
Experience with robotic automation, material handling, or ASRS projects.
Background in design/build, construction management, or installation project management.
Proven success managing projects across internal (leadership, engineering, sales) and external (clients, contractors, unions) stakeholders.
Record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Proficiency with scheduling tools and earned value management systems.
Ability to use metrics and data to drive improvement.
Strong technical and critical thinking skills to guide teams through design and process challenges.
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Our Environment
Remote, travel-based position.
Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.
The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
Approximately 75% of site time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $150,000.00 - $206,800.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.Top Skills
