Department OverviewThe Rave organization within Motorola Solutions is responsible for SaaS solutions supporting the safety mission of public and private entities. We help our customers engage with responders, households, schools, businesses, employees, students and other stakeholders to deliver critical communications, coordinate response, and exchange life-saving information.
The solutions we create apply exciting technologies such as geospatial visualization and analytics, high throughput communications, artificial intelligence, and numerous integrations with Motorola and partner systems to name a few. As a team member within the Rave organization, you will be exposed to many other solutions offered by Motorola Solutions, the most trusted name in public safety technology.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager of Technical Operations to lead the team responsible for our mission-critical, high-availability SaaS platform. This is a key leadership role that is critical to our business. You will be responsible for the 24x7x365 operation of our private data center infrastructure, powering Motorola Solutions’ rapidly growing Rave product line. Rave’s critical communications and safety solutions serve more than 6,000 customers across North America. We support these government and private entities in their mission to keep their communities safe and informed. We do this by providing tools to discover and manage millions of safety events each year, and as a result, deliver over one billion communications annually.
In addition to ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our current environment, you will be a key driver of our technological evolution. You will lead the charge in modernizing our practices, increasing automation, and strategically migrating components to the public cloud. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading technical operations teams through similar transformations, with a deep understanding of both private and public cloud environments.
What You'll Do:
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of technical operations professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and operational excellence.
Own the availability, performance, and security of our SaaS platform, ensuring we meet and exceed our SLAs.
Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the modernization of our infrastructure, including the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
Closely collaborate with development teams and mixed mode services and infrastructure, identifying opportunities to leverage public cloud services while maintaining interoperability with our private data centers.
Oversee all aspects of our private data center operations, including hardware procurement, capacity planning, and vendor management.
Lead our incident response and problem management processes, ensuring rapid resolution of issues and thorough root cause analysis.
Use errors as learning moments. Ensure post-mortem findings are appropriately adopted to further expand our reputation for stability and reliability.
Partner with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure that our infrastructure meets the needs of the business and our customers.
Manage the Technical Operations budget, ensuring that we are making smart investments in our infrastructure and our team.
Ensure our platform remains compliant with all relevant industry and government standards, including FedRAMP, GovRAMP, and HIPAA.
What You'll Bring:
10+ years of experience in technical operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
A proven track record of managing large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure in a 24x7x365 environment.
Deep expertise in private data center operations, including server, storage, and networking technologies.
Significant experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a strong understanding of hybrid cloud architectures.
A passion for automation and a history of successfully implementing infrastructure-as-code and other modern operational practices.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
A strong understanding of security and compliance best practices.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Target Base Salary Range: $120,300 USD - $240,600 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Note: Candidate must be in the Framingham, MA two days per weeks.
