What you'll be responsible for:
We are looking for a seasoned data science and analytics manager to guide the data analysts and data scientists working on Circle's payments products and compliance efforts. This manager will manage a team of between four and eight people across these areas. You will manage data analysts who are working to report results and explain phenomena to eager product and compliance teams. You will work with data scientists to help understand the payments ecosystem, build automated processes for compliance, and measure the impact of our efforts. The team has a mix of senior contributors and people who are earlier in their career. We would expect the ideal candidate to have a variety of management skills and be able to help people along a variety of career paths grow. This manager would also have cross functional partners who are eager to partner with data to make sure that we make the best decisions possible. You would have the opportunity to inform and influence our product and compliance strategy and we would expect you to help drive business decisions in partnership with them.

What you'll work on:
- Own the data analytics and data science efforts for our payments pillar and our compliance team.
- Ensure that the work your team produces is technically sound, impactful, and can have an impact on Circle's business. This includes going deep when necessary and working with your team to effectively communicate results.
- Providing the feedback that will help improve your team's work and help members of the team grow.
- Be a trusted partner to our product, engineering, business development, and compliance teams and work with them to make the best decisions possible for Circle.
- Build the appropriate rituals and structures to run a smooth running, organized, and impactful team.
- Partner with other data leaders to build a world class data team
What you'll bring to Circle:
- 7+ years of experience in data analysis or data science, with 3+ years managing both reporting functions and analytics/data science functions.
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language, such as R or Python, for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Uses data to speak the truth, even if that truth is inconvenient.
- Ability to effectively partner cross functionally
- Gives team timely and direct feedback to help them improve
- Experience in payments is highly preferred
