About Cogent Security

Cogent is an Applied AI Lab building the next generation of AI agents for cybersecurity. AI has fundamentally changed how attacks happen, allowing malicious actors to operate at unprecedented speed and scale. Cogent's "AI Taskforce" assesses petabytes of enterprise data to remediate these issues before critical breaches occur.

To stay at the cutting edge, we blend frontier research with real-world execution. Alongside our core product work, Cogent Research serves as our applied AI lab, providing the research horsepower needed to make truly agentic security workflows a reality.

Since coming out of stealth, Cogent has experienced rapid growth. We partner with Fortune 500 companies to secure some of the most complex production environments in the world.

We're backed by Greylock and we've built a team with the best minds in applied AI. Our team is comprised of people from:

  • Top universities like Stanford, Berkeley, Penn, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Waterloo

  • Unicorn, high-growth companies like Scale AI, Databricks, Stripe, Tesla, Coinbase

  • World class cybersecurity experts from Wiz, Abnormal AI, Zscaler

  • Preeminent ML research labs like Deepmind and SAIL

About the Role

Cogent is building a world-class marketing team, and we're looking for smart, fast, exceptional people who are committed to our mission and bring a spark of creativity that sets us apart from traditional B2B marketing. As Senior Manager of Content Marketing, you'll write the content that introduces security teams to Cogent and carries them through a buying decision: blog posts, whitepapers, ebooks, research reports, social series, and scripts for short video. This is a writing-heavy role. Most of your week goes to interviewing experts, drafting, and shipping. The rest goes to making sure the work gets found in search, AI answers, and social. You'll take raw material (product insight, original research, customer outcomes, breaking security news) and turn it into content that security practitioners read and share.

What You'll Do

Content Production

  • Write the blog posts, whitepapers, and ebooks that build awareness with security practitioners and engage buyers at each stage of the buying process.

  • Interview Cogent's researchers, engineers, and field team for raw material, and get every technical detail right.

  • React fast when security news breaks: write and ship the POV piece while the story still matters.

Social & Video

  • Execute Cogent's social strategy: regular series (weekly VM insights, AI security myths, remediation playbooks) that keep a steady drumbeat of Cogent's point of view in front of practitioners.

  • Write scripts for short videos and explainers, and work with contractors who shoot and edit them.

Search & AEO

  • Run the SEO and AEO program: research what buyers search for and ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, then structure each piece so it ranks and gets cited.

  • Track how your content performs in search and AI answers, and refresh the pieces that slip.

Research & Story Packaging

  • Work with the research team on Cogent's flagship research report: dig into the data, shape the findings into a story, and write the report.

  • Project manage the report through launch, then turn it into derivative content: blog series, social posts, short video, and sales assets.

  • Repurpose the strongest research, product insight, and customer stories in Cogent's library into formats that reach new audiences.

AI-Native Production

  • Use AI across your workflow (research synthesis, drafting, editing, repurposing) to ship at the pace of a small team without losing accuracy or voice.

  • Build systems that make the work faster, like prompt libraries, voice guides, and a living archive of positioning, proof, and research.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

  • 5-7 years in B2B content roles, with at least three of them writing for security practitioners and buyers.

  • Excellent writing and editorial judgment. You can explain complex security topics simply and credibly.

  • A track record of content that earned attention: organic traffic and rankings, citations in AI answers, social engagement, and downloads of long-form assets.

  • Hands-on SEO and AEO experience, with tools like Semrush, GA4, Profound, and AirOps.

  • You've shipped at a fast-moving company without a big team behind you.

  • Fluent with AI in the actual work. You can walk through a content workflow you built, where it broke, and what you changed.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience writing about vulnerability management, exposure management (CTEM), AppSec, cloud security, or AI in security operations.

  • Experience writing or project managing a research report (threat report, benchmark, or survey) and turning it into a campaign's worth of derivative content.

  • Production ability beyond writing: short video, explainers, visual assets, or the judgment to direct contractors who make them.

  • Experience growing a practitioner audience on LinkedIn.

Why Cogent

Cogent is redefining how AI can proactively defend organizations against evolving threats. Our mission is to empower security teams with cutting-edge AI agents and clear, actionable insights. You'll join a world-class GTM team where your work directly impacts the safety of some of the world's most sophisticated organizations.
