Position Summary

Are you ready to drive digital transformation in global manufacturing? As a Senior Implementation Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge MES (Manufacturing Execution System) projects for some of the world’s leading Food & Beverage companies.

In this role, you’ll lead the end-to-end implementation of SaaS-based MES solutions—ensuring every project is delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality. Drawing on your SaaS implementation expertise (ideally in a manufacturing environment), you’ll help clients streamline operations, boost efficiency, and unlock the full potential of Industry 4.0 technologies.

You’ll work within an ISO 9001-approved systems engineering framework, applying best practices to deliver solutions both in Ireland and internationally. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience with advanced Orbis application software—with full training and continuous professional development provided.

This is your chance to combine your technical skills with real-world impact, working with multinational teams and shaping the future of smart manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the deployment of SaaS-based MES solutions that transform how customers run and scale their manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze and understand customer processes to translate requirements into tailored SaaS implementations—owning system design, configuration, testing, and validation.

  • Configure and optimize cloud-based MES applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems while collaborating with your team to deliver outstanding results.

  • Work hand-in-hand with the Team Lead to scope, define, and document SaaS project requirements that set the stage for successful implementations.

  • Engage directly with customers—onsite and virtually—to drive adoption, deliver value, and ensure solutions exceed expectations.

  • Manage project workflows within SaaS implementation frameworks, hitting key milestones and keeping projects on schedule.

  • Represent Orbis in customer project meetings, addressing issues proactively, driving follow-ups, and ensuring stakeholders stay aligned.

  • Champion continuous improvement by sharing SaaS deployment learnings and best practices with the wider Orbis team.

  • Contribute wherever needed—adapting to evolving priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused SaaS environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering SaaS-based software projects, with a strong track record of successful implementations in manufacturing environments (Food & Beverage or Pharmaceuticals preferred).
  • 3+ years of software project delivery experience, including at least 1 year in a senior implementation role (required).

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes—such as dairy, brewing, or distillation—and the ability to translate them into scalable digital solutions.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical IT experience.

  • Advanced SQL expertise (required): data historians, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and Microsoft SQL Management Studio. A technical interview will assess these skills.

  • Analytical problem-solver with excellent organizational skills and the ability to document, validate, and communicate effectively across teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint) to support project planning and reporting.

  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with ETL processes, Power BI, and version control tools (e.g., Git).

  • Bonus: Passion for driving digital transformation in manufacturing through SaaS solutions.

Competencies for Success

  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Anticipates and understands customer needs, follows through on requests, and builds lasting trust as a valued advisor.

  • Clear and Confident Communication: Expresses ideas clearly in both written and verbal form, adapting style to the audience and ensuring messages land with impact.

  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Combines data with critical thinking to identify possibilities, tackle challenges, and deliver effective solutions.

  • Commitment to Quality: Approaches every task with integrity, precision, and a drive to “do it right the first time.”

  • Detail-Oriented Organization: Maintains strong attention to detail, stays organized in fast-moving environments, and continuously seeks smarter, more efficient ways of working.

So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
