To Learn More:

Listen to this podcast with our Founder & CEO Josh Green and Molly Wood, which does a great job of explaining where our business is today and how our mission advances the EV revolution. We’re proud to have been recently named as one of the “Best Places to Work” in the large business category by the Washington Business Journal, and that 100% of our Glassdoor reviews approve of how our CEO, Josh Green, leads our team.

Your Mission:

Your mission is to build and improve the applications that power our SaaS platform and fleet management services. You’ll spend your time writing and reviewing code, helping to debug and troubleshoot difficult issues with good tooling but limited support, and anticipating ways we can make our applications work better and seem simple.

You will report to Rafael Kennedy, the Head of Engineering

Outcomes You'll Deliver:

  • Build and maintain features across our stack (Vue, TypeScript, Node, Python, Postgres, Ionic, Dagster).
  • Review code often and meaningfully, raising the bar for quality and comprehensibility.
  • Debug and resolve real-world production issues, ensuring uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as a mentor and guide to less experienced developers, helping them to grow their skills and confidence.
  • Go deep, taking ownership of modules or business functions from end to end, speaking with product and users to understand what people need to do, and making it work better.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver solutions that meet user needs.
  • Continuously improve scalability, performance, and fault-tolerance of our systems.

Who You Are:

  • You have worked on at least one application in production, and you know what it’s like to debug live issues under pressure, roll back safely, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • You can build features end-to-end across the frontend (Vue, TypeScript, Ionic) and backend (Node, Python, Postgres). You don’t need to know every framework we use, but you’re quick to learn and can read code outside your comfort zone.
  • You are comfortable with git. You know how to branch, rebase, and merge without creating chaos, and you understand the importance of pull requests and clear commit history.
  • You have led small projects or feature teams. You know how to break work into tasks, review code constructively, and mentor less experienced engineers without slowing things down.
  • You write code that includes unit tests or integration tests where it matters. You understand trade-offs between shipping fast and shipping safely, and you’ve been on the receiving end of both good and bad test coverage.

Salary: $165-200k base + annual bonus eligible

Location: This role is remote eligible. However, we have an office in Washington, DC. Our in-office teams come together for collaborative work in the office Tuesday through Thursday and work remotely on Monday and Friday.

Our Core Values:

Inspiration’s culture is based on a shared respect for our core values described HERE. Fit with these values is a critical component of our hiring process, and employees are expected to demonstrate these behaviors in their interactions with colleagues, customers, and all stakeholders. An assessment of how each employee has exhibited our values is an important part of our performance review process.

Our Commitment to You:

Inspiration is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status. We are committed to DEIB initiatives and to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
