The Senior Tax Manager position will primarily be responsible for all aspect of investment tax. You will be responsible for reviewing investment information and calculation related to partnerships and other asset classes such as various types of fixed income securities/bonds, real estate, stock, CLO, and derivatives. You will also be responsible for calculating federal tax compliance, tax provision for investments area.

You are

  • An experienced tax professional in a federal tax department or a public accounting firm with deep understanding of partnership taxation and investment taxation as well as the tax accounting.

You have

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in investment tax with understanding financial services industry - life insurance company or major accounting firm experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience of partnership taxation, real estate, stock, bond investments, derivatives and other investments.
  • Understanding of corporate tax compliance and tax provision (ASC 740, SSAP 101 experience is a plus).
  • Advance Excel, analytical skills, Alteryx is a plus.
  • Experience working with Oracle GL and investment software (ePam preferred).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

You will

  • Review tax implication for all investment related activity.
  • Review and maintain the tax basis in partnership investments.
  • Review quarterly/annual tax gain/loss related to investments.
  • Review and obtain various reports from investment software.
  • Assist with review of corporate tax returns with emphasis on all investment related forms.
  • Assist with review quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with the SSAP 101 and ASC 740 requirements.
  • Provide assistance on IRS and external financial statement audits.
  • Assist with special projects on a as needed basis for process improvements and transactions analysis relating to investment tax.

Location

This is an on-site position requiring 3 days a week in a Guardian office.

Salary Range:

$148,940.00 - $244,685.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
