As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About the Team:

CrowdStrike’s Ontology and Events team is part of the Sensor Foundations group. We provide tools and libraries for cloud services and endpoint agents to access, validate and operate over the trillions of events CrowdStrike creates every day. Our core mission is to ensure that access to and interactions with events are safe, reliable and fast. Ontology and Events is a new team, formed to centralize work in this space.

CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not expect candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience.  We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to grow into a position consulting on system design decisions and coordinating with other teams across the company.

CrowdStrike is a remote-first organization and you’ll be collaborating with developers in many locations. Remote applicants are welcome, and we regularly work with colleagues in the US, Europe and Australia. If you prefer the office life, CrowdStrike has engineering offices in Kirkland (WA), Minneapolis (MN), Sunnyvale (CA), and Crystal City (VA).

What You’ll Do:

This is a Sr. Developer role on a team that owns tools and libraries written in a number of languages. You should expect to:

  • Write and maintain high-performance Go code

  • Create and Maintain code generation tools that produce several programming languages

  • Deploy and support data definitions across production and test clouds

  • Solicit and integrate feedback about design proposals and user needs

  • Debug cross-platform and integration issues, working closely with other teams to ensure safety and reliability

  • Design and write integration and end-to-end tests

  • Balance operating independently with regular user interviews and intra-team coordination

  • Shape the direction and roadmap of our tools and architecture

What You’ll Need
  • Strong Go coding skills

  • Show a track record of shipping quality software

  • Can dive into a complicated code base where changes require careful attention and puzzle solving

  • Have architectural and design experience building software across many system layers

  • Show strong technical communication skills, including presenting, software architecture documentation and user feedback solicitation

  • Are excited to improve performance and user experience

  • Take responsibility for their work, and see feedback as an opportunity to iterate

  • Can communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a distributed team

Bonus Points

While not required for this position, we will find any of the following particularly attractive in a candidate:

  • Strong Python coding skills

  • Comfort with kernel- or user-mode C/C++

  • Experience with event processing systems or message passing languages

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
