The Opportunity:

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer will work with stakeholders to develop an understanding of business needs and create scalable solutions to meet reporting requirements. This role involves delivering customer-focused issue resolution, new product development, and optimizing existing SSIS reporting pipelines. The Senior BI Engineer will work with various data sources to develop and implement applications that enable end users to make data-driven business decisions. The individual will collaborate closely with information services, security, and other engineering teams to provide architecture that meets current and future state reporting needs.

Job Description:

  • Write programs to automate data collection and processing using Databricks, Python, R, SAS, or SQL (Apache, Spark, Pi).
  • Develop, test, deploy, monitor, maintain, and continuously improve scalable data collection and output pipelines.
  • Solve problems and perform root cause analysis and resolution for production SSIS / ADF pipeline bugs.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams to create architecture for efficient and scalable solutions to various data, system, and application-based issues.
  • Validate output and reconcile when needed using the UAT process for all new development to ensure quality.
  • Form key relationships with and deliver professional, customer-focused service to key stakeholders and executives.
  • Identify automation requirements and create and communicate solutions and timelines to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strategic reports from multiple databases and platforms.
  • Complete code review/peer review of completed work by other engineers and provide feedback identifying issues or required report updates to meet requirements ahead of moving from UAT to PROD environment.
  • Present and/or publish completed reports in accordance with publishing guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Azure Cloud Platform Data or ETL Engineer experience (Certification preferred).
  • Azure Data Factory experience (Certification preferred).
  • Azure Databricks development experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SAS, Spark / PI / Apache SQL languages.
  • Advanced Power BI report development (with advanced M and DAX language proficiency )
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-organizing and capable of creating a full development plan for features and user stories.
  • Practical knowledge of standard SDLC process and agile practices.

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Visual Studio Code
  • PowerShell
  • Ability to form key relationships with and deliver professional, customer-focused service to key stakeholders and executives.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and communicate expectations and timelines clearly.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with relational databases and advanced T-SQL, with the ability to write complex, highly-optimized queries for data cleansing across large volumes of data.
  • 3+ years of experience developing Power BI reports (with M, SQL, DAX language proficiency).
  • 3+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience required. (nice to have)
  • 3+ years of knowledge and/or experience with ETL and Azure data warehouse concepts and processes (Experience with Azure Databricks is a plus).
  • Experience building and maintaining APIs. - Must
  • Advanced Vertipaq, Dax Studio, Tabular editor experience.
  • Advanced SQL concepts and validation review between data source and report output.
  • Power Apps integration. - Nice to have
  • Excellent communication, organizational, planning, problem-solving, analytical, judgment, and research skills.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage big data and create solutions for reporting requirements provided by stakeholders.
  • Solve problems and perform root cause analysis on production bugs.
  • Follow standard SDLC process and agile practices within a team.
  • Develop internal and external partnerships to provide opportunities for efficient solutions to various data, system, and application uses.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to other developers/engineers and aid in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Actively review new bugs reported and complete grooming and sprint planning.
  • Complete bug root cause analysis and work with other teams as needed to resolve issues and complete documentation and notification to the bug reporter at least twice per week.
  • Be a subject matter expert (SME) of report data modeling, knowledgeable about what each field is used for, and able to determine appropriate uses of data fields to create reporting.
  • Have advanced knowledge and skills for secondary tools such as Microsoft Azure, SQL data warehouse, Visual Studio, etc.
  • Possess advanced programming and optimizing skills in DAX, Dax Studio, Performance Analyzer, Vertipaq, SQL, and M languages.
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy through Power BI report development.
  • Responsible for data mining, manipulation, and delivery to key stakeholders and executives in accordance with priorities and deadlines.
  • Form key relationships with and deliver professional, customer-focused service to key stakeholders and executives.
  • Lead the evaluation of current and future data needs and translate needs to stakeholders and product owners to support all lines of business.
  • Lead high-level discussions with a focus on making recommendations and identifying how data can support key business decisions.
  • Identify report requirements and determine how the desired results can be achieved.
  • Develop and maintain strategic reports from multiple databases and systems.
  • Complete systems validation for client data, identifying discrepancies in data totals or PKs.
  • Work with team members as a mentor and provide opportunities for open collaboration to problem-solve or optimize reports.
  • Have practical application experience with Dax Studio and Performance Analyzer and can optimize reporting based on analysis findings.
  • Complete code review/peer review of completed work by co-developers and provide feedback identifying issues or required report updates to meet requirements ahead of the report moving to UAT.
  • Present and/or publish completed reports in accordance with publishing guidelines.
  • This position pays between $91,400-175,200 based on experience
