POSITION SUMMARY:  A diversion specialist works closely with a materials marketing manager in the day to day sale of recyclable commodities, with a focus on order management from Republic Services recycling centers.  Additionally, diversion specialists are responsible for customer service and outbound logistics for commodities generated by national accounts.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create and process sales orders into Trux for outbound commodity shipments.  Orders comprise details such as shipping information, quantity, prices, commodity, unit of measurement, designation, and other information as necessary.
  • Coordinate general accounting functions between customers and Republic Services business units, starting with proper initial order entry into Trux, and continuing through month end close.  Also provide assistance as needed with collections and intracompany payment reconciliation.
  • Organize shipments with the recycling centers.  This function may include load scheduling, researching problem shipments, managing export logistics concerns, dispute resolution, and providing division with shipping documents and customer requirements
  • Run credit reports as needed for new vendors
  • Act as the face of Republic Services in providing industry-best customer service to national accounts customers.  This function also includes monthly reporting and accounting assistance as needed.
  • Provide support and training as needed for division contacts on relevant functions, including billing, load scheduling, customer-specific needs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience and familiarity with Trux software strongly preferred
  • 2 years of experience with logistics and account support
  • 2 years of previous accounting and sales experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of individuals (from drivers and hourly plant employees to corporate management)
  • Ability to interpret direction in order to produce reports and routine correspondence
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple objectives while meeting deadlines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • 3 year of related industry experience with an emphasis in recycling, commodity sales.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook

This role is fully remote in the United States, but will be supporting PST and CST time zones.

SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION

Republic’s recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.
