Summary

The Sr. Director, Payroll Operations is responsible for overseeing the management of customer teams responsible for the delivery of payroll, tax, and garnishment services for multiple companies in an outsourcing environment. The Sr. Director, Payroll Operations reports to the Vice President of Payroll Services and is a key part of the overall payroll/tax/garnishment outsourcing operations group.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and oversees payroll operations, processes, and procedures. Designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations.

  • Identify and analyze business needs and requirements.

  • Create and document processes and procedures relating to daily, quarterly, and annual payroll processing and garnishment processing.

  • Manage the timely handling and resolution of customer issues, including handling customer escalations.

  • Perform and document Root Cause Analysis and implement remedial procedures to close gaps identified.

  • Manage the timely handling and resolution of payroll, garnishment, and tax issues on behalf of customers.

  • Work consistently to deliver excellent customer service related to the entire payroll, garnishment, and tax processes.

  • Manage HR and Performance Appraisals for employees, including employee 1:1 training, goal setting, and professional development plans.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality services and products to clients

  • Manage audit tasks and controls required for the annual review period.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience of payroll operations in a multi-company, multi-state organization in an outsourcing environment.​

  • 3+ years managing payroll operations, preferably in an outsourcing environment.

  • Related experience using ACH Credit, ACH Debit, and check methods for payments and collections of payroll payments and garnishments.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Previous experience working with ERP HR/Payroll systems.

  • Strong passion for customer service

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or MIS preferred.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
