We are looking for an experienced Senior Director, Finance Transformation and Strategic Initiatives, who will be responsible for the oversight and direction of system analysts supporting the Accounting Department. Additionally, this position is a driver of key finance transformation and strategy initiatives, while providing oversight on the configuration of Yardi and monthly accounting close process.

The Senior Director, Finance Transformation and Strategic Initiatives is specifically responsible for:

Finance Transformation

  • Partner with the VP, Head of Finance Transformation in defining and owning the multi‑year finance transformation strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise business objectives, finance and accounting priorities, and technology standards.
  • Translate corporate and finance strategy into executable transformation initiatives with clear outcomes, milestones, and value.
  • Communicate transformation vision, progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to executive leadership and key stakeholders
  • Oversee, manage, and aid in the execution of key finance transformation initiatives while effectively communicating project status, issues, and risks, to team members, management, and stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Director of Project Management on the oversight of the Finance Transformation project dashboard for key Finance Transformation initiatives, as well as ensure key projects are regularly updated by staff and departments engaged in the execution of those projects.
  • Evaluate existing systems, tools, and processes leveraged by the broader accounting team for identifying opportunities for transformation. Provide recommendations of opportunities identified, prioritized by ROI, on a recurring basis.
  • Evaluate and enhance existing finance transformation processes and methodologies with a focus on efficiency in day-to-day operations and creating value-add impact by the team.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes, including efficiency gains, risk reduction, scalability, and improved decision support.
  • Help to lead the change management strategy for finance transformation initiatives, ensuring sustainable adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • Coordinate the production and dissemination of the quarterly Finance Transformation newsletter to the broader accounting department.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Set clear expectations, performance objectives, and development paths aligned to long‑term transformation goals.
  • Build and develop a high‑performing team with strong program, process, and change management capabilities.
  • Report on KPIs and success metrics to track the effectiveness and value delivered by finance transformation initiatives. Using the reported KPIs and metrics, identify and present opportunities for enhancements.
  • Provides oversight of the monthly closing process occurring in Yardi and Blackline.

Yardi & Blackline - Systems Management & Oversight

  • Oversee the input of data and configuration into Yardi and Blackline by the systems team to ensure consistency, accuracy of setup and configuration performed by the team, as well as having obtained the necessary approvals for effectuating the changes.
  • Routinely evaluate current processes and system configuration for providing recommendations of opportunities for enhancement and efficiency gains.

  • Strong understanding of the company’s systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS office, SharePoint, Smartsheet

Qualified candidates are expected to have:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in information systems, accounting or related fields.
  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a leadership position, leading a team of direct reports.
  • System conversion, implementation, and data migration experience.

Additional preferred qualifications:

  • Yardi 7S (Yardi 8), Yardi Investment Accounting, Yardi Commercial knowledge
  • Blackline
  • Real estate industry experience

For San Diego applicants, this position is based in our San Diego (Del Mar Heights) headquarters.  Monday through Thursday are in-office for collaboration, with the opportunity to work remotely on Friday.  For candidates outside San Diego this is a remote position. 

The pay range for this role is $138,023 – 174,473 – 217,795

Offers near the high end are uncommon but may be considered for candidates with exceptional experience and skills and are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, to be discussed during the interview process. An annual pay rate and total compensation package is generally determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
