The role of Senior Data Engineer is essential for the successful modernization of our data platforms and practices. This role will play a crucial role in the following, but not limited to, areas:

What You Will Do:

• Data Platform Management: Evaluate, enhance, and modernize Goodwin’s data platforms, including exploring emerging technologies and cloud-based solutions to improve scalability, accessibility, and security.

• Process Optimization: Contribute to establishing and optimizing standardized procedures for data management, data governance, integration, quality management, and lifecycle management to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, business units, and senior management to drive data-driven initiatives, foster a data-driven culture, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

• Performance and Innovation: Monitoring and optimizing the Firm’s data platforms (Mostly, but not limited to Microsoft SQL Server), data engineering processes, identifying areas for improvement, and driving innovation to enhance data processing efficiency, data quality, and overall system performance.

Who You Are:

• BS in Computer Science or related field is preferred. 

• 5 or more years of experience as Database Architect/Data Engineer.

• Proven track-record working with Microsoft SQL Server databases, including experience with related technologies.

• Expertise in Microsoft data development tools (SSMS, Visual Studio Data Tools).

• Advanced T-SQL development, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• SQL Server Performance Monitoring, and tuning.

• Advanced SSIS integration experience. Data Factory experience preferred as well.

• Advanced SSRS.

• Advanced Powershell Scripting for DB operations and automation.

• C# Scripting in SSIS (Script Task).

• Experience in Data Warehousing.

• Experience working with cloud based data platforms (Azure preferred).

• Familiarity with OpenAI technologies and how to leverage data for successful use of those technologies.

• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Azure Data Platform.

• Expertise in using and administering the Azure “Power” platform tool chain as it relates to data and automation.

• Experience using Git for source control.

• Experience working with API calls and handling return data in JSON and XML.

• Intermediate to advanced HTML and CSS.

• Some knowledge of Python required.

• Experience working in an Agile workflow.

• Ability to work independently without close supervision.

• Genuine interest in and curiosity for Database technologies, and data analytics.

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.

• Excellent organizational, teamwork, customer service and problem-solving skills required.

• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

• Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• General Linux experience.

• Experience with common law firm application DBs like Aderant Expert, iManage, WestKM, Foundation, etc.

• Experience with Idera SQL Diagnostics Manager for SQL Monitoring, and troubleshooting.

The target salary range for this position varies by location and is commensurate with relevant experience: Boston $115,800 - $173,700 | Los Angeles $121,600 - $182,400 | New York $121,600 - $182,400 | Philadelphia $108,800 - $163,300 | San Francisco $129,700 - $194,500 | Santa Monica $121,600 - $182,400 | Silicon Valley $129,700 - $194,500 | Washington DC $115,800 - $173,700
