Responsible for the build and maintenance of the cost allocation system that provides financial information for profit and loss reporting and analytics for all hospitals and physician groups at WVU Medicine. Serve as the lead on cost allocation methodologies for the organization and ensure integrity of data and reporting in decision support in order to provide accurate and useful reporting to all executive leaders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years of experience in finance related discipline.

2. One (1) year of experience in decision support capacity and/or cost allocation.

1. Experience with Stratajazz Decision Support and Cost Accounting.

1. Serve as a project leader in the building, scaling, and implementation of a multidimensional cost allocation system utilizing methods to the patient encounter and charge code level, such as activity based costing, RVUs, time-based costs, physician compensation, acquisition based costing for pharmacy and supplies, 340B discounts.

2. Lead collaborations with CFOs, Strata, Finance, Accounting, Patient Service Departments, and all Clinical Areas to build optimal cost allocation configuration allowing organization leaders to effectively manage service delivery, while understanding the precise cost for every patient encounter, procedure, and care episode. 

3. Responsible for accuracy, integrity, and usefulness of profit and loss statement actuals and projections modeled by the DS Analysts, for patient population level (ie P&L for diabetic patients), procedure level (i.e. patients undergoing robotic procedures), physician level (i.e. all pediatric neurosurgery physicians), and signature line level reporting (i.e. oncology, HVI, Critical Care, and Neuro), which are utilized by various organization executive leaders, hospital leaders, service line physician and business leaders, and department leaders to make strategic decisions.

4. Resolve any reporting issues with profit and loss statements, in addition to performing any additional cost analyses required to support the understanding of the profit and loss statement actuals or projections. 

5. Serve as the leader in improving the cost allocation methodology and system and continually collaborate with key organizational stakeholders to drive ongoing optimization of financial information so that leaders can accurately assess the profitability of individual services, improve services, determine what services to offer, enable leadership to make informed decisions, and support patient and community needs at the highest quality of care and at the lowest cost. 

6. Create and build additional signature line programs to include other service areas for executive teams to evaluate and grow programs.

7. Coordinate the completion of financial analysis related to and in support of new services, provider needs, and long term strategic initiatives.

8. Identify performance improvement and margin opportunities through enhanced costing and communicate to senior leadership.
