Module (MOD) & SSD Direct Materials Category Supplier Manager in Penang, responsible for categories including PCB, passives (inductors, resistors, capacitors), enclosures, and hardware (connectors, screws, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Strategic Sourcing and Category Management Plan for the category
- Track the implementation of sourcing strategies and contract compliance, resolving any constraints or issues
- Lead a global key-materials team with a focus on achieving outstanding results
- Chair cross-functional Material Strategy Team (MST) forums (Commercial, Technical, Quality) with engineering, supplier quality, and internal sites to drive alignment and change
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - business units, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and site purchasing - to plan strategic sourcing direction
- Communicate sourcing trends and results to the Category Director
- Negotiate LTAs/MOUs to ensure multi-year capacity guarantees, priority in allocation, and consistent pricing
- Drive supply flexibility and resilience by qualifying new suppliers, new supplier sites, and alternate (Tier-2/Tier-3) sources, including regional diversification
- Recommend and implement targets for spend reduction, purchasing efficiency, customer service, and supplier management
- Conduct effective supplier negotiations and drive cost reductions; identify and implement category-specific savings levers
- Deliver category savings and scorecard metric targets
- Manage senior-level supplier relationships and handle supplier performance evaluations (Scorecard)
- Maintain a supplier segmentation map for the category and build partnerships with key suppliers
- Supervise and adjust category compliance, including risk, spend, quality, and supplier segmentation
- Apply AI and digital tools to strengthen category insights, spend analytics, supplier risk monitoring, and decision-making; adopt AI-based strategies to elevate procurement efficiency
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a similar field
- A minimum of 5 years of background in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or supply chain management, preferably in the electronics or hardware industry
- Proven experience in developing and driving global category strategies and sourcing initiatives
- Strong negotiation abilities with a history of achieving cost reductions and value, including LTA/MOU negotiation and securing multi-year capacity commitments
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex market data and financial information
- Proficiency in procurement and supply chain management software and tools
- Strong project management skills to lead cross-functional teams and balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with internal collaborators and external suppliers
- Strong understanding of supplier management, risk management, and compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a global, multi-site environment
- Knowledge of industry trends, standard methodologies, and regulatory requirements linked to the assigned categories
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and tools
- Proficient in using AI and digital analytics tools for procurement and category management, with a willingness to adopt AI-augmented approaches to working
- Experience in MOD/SSD direct materials - PCB, passive components (inductors, resistors, capacitors), enclosures, and hardware (connectors, screws) - including supply dynamics, cost factors, and manufacturing processes is highly valued
- Professional certifications in supply chain management or procurement (such as CPSM, CIPS, CPM) are greatly appreciated
