Position Summary
The Senior Business Analyst plays an important role in the organization by performing several activities related to the company’s business analysis function and Capital Markets and Investor Fulfillment department. The role is primarily responsible, under limited supervision, for eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing the real needs of project stakeholders, including customers and end users from cross-functional departments. The Senior Business Analyst serves as the conduit between the business and the Information Systems software development team through which requirements flow for medium to complex projects.
Compensation
This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $94,000 - $120,000 annually.
Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
Essential Functions
- Work with the project sponsor to document project objectives and business value.
- Analyze scope of project to identify project stakeholders.
- Elicit project requirements using interviews, document analysis, viewpoints, etc.
- Write project requirements specifications and business rules and close out documentation according to standard templates; use natural language to convey specifications simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely.
- Accurately define quality attributes and constraints.
- Write project proposals for senior executive presentation detailing project objectives, scope, technology execution approach, estimation, ROI, and resource needs partnering with business and IT for input and content.
- Establish and implement effective testing strategies to appropriately assess final programming changes; work with other Business Analysts to identify cross impacts of final programming changes to other areas.
- Document system changes in short narrative or diagram overviews including all features, epics and user stories, business rules and acceptance criteria/test scripts.
- Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements and quality, specified in an appropriate level of detail.
- Represent current and future state process documentation, gap analysis and requirements using alternative views via flowcharts, diagrams, or scenarios where appropriate; participate in business justification and the prioritization of proposed requirements.
- Discover and implement ways to reuse requirements across projects.
- Lead effective discovery and design meetings for initiatives and participate in peer reviews and inspection of requirements documents and corresponding work products; ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly.
- Establish and implement effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of requirements process.
- Assist with the development of the organization’s requirements engineering policies, procedures, and tools.
- Use expertise to resolve issues escalated by junior-level teammates, agile teammates, or business.
- Mentors, trains, and champions Product Team mindset, process and collaboration contributing to process efficiencies and improved KPI’s.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum six years' total relevant experience in Business or Mortgage Lending and/or Consumer Lending Technology related role(s). Experience in Capital Markets is highly preferred.
- PMP or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in mortgage lending, capital markets and/or consumer lending technology.
- Experience in Capital Markets segment is required.
- Expertise in Product Pricing Engines (PPE) with a focus on Capital Markets and the Secondary Mortgage Industry.
- Knowledge of various IT tools, preferably JIRA software.
- Strong understanding of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), including the ability to analyze business needs, translate them into technical API requirements, document API functionalities, and collaborate with development teams to ensure APIs are designed and implemented effectively to meet business objectives; essentially acting as a bridge between business needs and technical API development.
- Experience needed with both Agile and Waterfall/Hybrid methods of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Analytical skills and a demonstrated talent for scrutinizing complex work processes and streamlining them for increased output and continual improvement; ability to abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding. Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
- Experience in continual business process improvement or automation initiatives for efficiency experience a plus.
- Modeling skills necessary to represent requirements information in graphical forms.
- An understanding of how to practice requirements engineering according to several software development life cycles (SDLC) in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication required; able to effectively manage communication with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to interview subjects, facilitate group discussions, gather information, and report on results.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Wiki, Google docs, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required (e.g., Jira, Confluence, WorkFront).
- Experience working with XMLs and knowledge of APIs as it pertains to web services and vendor integrations highly desired.
- Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Requirements
Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.

Mental: This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities. Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
Schedules: Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
