About Engine
Engine is the all-in-one travel and spend management platform trusted by 38K+ businesses and groups representing 1.8M+ travelers. We're the retailer and the rails of business travel, one of the fastest-growing companies in travel tech, built on a decade of proprietary technology, supply, and pricing no one else can replicate. Other travel and AI companies run on our infrastructure to book real trips, hold rates, and move payments, without building any of it themselves. We built it, AI-forward at every layer, from how travelers book to how the rails run.
That work has earned recognition as one of Fast Company's Best Workplaces for Innovators (2025), TravelTech's Reservation Platform of the Year (2026), and one of Built In's Best Places to Work (2020–2026).
We're looking for bold, ambitious people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. Working here, you can expect exponential growth, an ambitious pace, full ownership, and high-caliber colleagues who push you to do the best work of your career. Every hire raises the bar.

Come outpace the ordinary and build the future of travel with us.

About the Role

As part of the GTM Compensation & Planning team, you'll be a key contributor supporting the systems, calculations, and analysis that keep our sales organization running. You'll work directly with the Director of GTM Compensation and Planning and VP of Revenue Operations on high-visibility projects that shape how Engine pays, motivates, and plans capacity for our GTM teams of 300–500 people.

GTM Compensation & Planning sits inside Revenue Operations alongside Sales Operations, GTM Systems, Revenue Enablement, and GTM Finance. You will also partner closely with Sales Leadership, Growth, Central Data, and Corporate Finance.

What You'll DoComp Calculations & Sales Support
  • Own the accurate and timely calculation of monthly and quarterly commissions and quotas across all GTM channels, ensuring every seller is paid correctly and on time.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the sales team on all things comp — answering questions, resolving disputes, and clearly communicating results, plan mechanics, and pay timing.
  • Support the governance of plan policies — processing true-ups, exceptions, and new-hire plan setup — with accuracy, documentation, and audit-readiness.
  • Partner with Payroll, People, and GTM Finance to deliver clean, on-time payouts.
Sales Strategy — Modeling, Quotas & Planning
  • Build and maintain analytical models that support compensation plan design and quota, and lead initiatives to develop new plans and make changes based on business needs and new products.
  • Support capacity planning efforts to ensure the sales team has the right headcount, coverage, and productivity assumptions in place to achieve annual revenue targets.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, GTM Finance, People, Sales Operations, and Central Data to gather inputs, pressure-test assumptions, and deliver a seamless experience for the sales organization.
  • Develop and test hypotheses on plan mechanics, quota attainment, and productivity, and translate the results into recommendations leadership can act on.
AI, Systems, and Insights
  • Identify where AI belongs in comp calculations, modeling, and sales-team communication — build it, prove the productivity gain, and scale it.
  • Translate compensation and planning data into clear, actionable insights for GTM and Finance leaders through dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and recurring reporting.
  • Help scale and improve our compensation and planning tools, Salesforce and reporting systems, processes, and documentation as Engine grows.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who's ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:

  • Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in sales compensation, sales operations, or finance. Exposure to sales incentive design within the tech/SaaS industry is a plus.
  • Skills: You're a problem-solver with a strong analytical toolkit — advanced Excel/Google Sheets, comfort with large data sets, and the ability to build models that others can trust and follow. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • AI-Forward: Experience with — or genuine interest in — leveraging AI to automate comp calculations and modeling to super-charge your work.
  • Attention to Detail: You double-check your work, take ownership of the numbers, and know that in compensation, precision matters. You develop the right processes and own accurate work product.
  • Mindset: You're ready to roll up your sleeves, collaborate, and deliver results that matter — and you're excited to learn from a Director who wants to invest in your growth.
  • Communication: You possess strong communication skills to be able to partner cross-functionally daily with different roles and personas (sales, finance, legal, HR, etc.).

Applications for this role will be accepted through 11/11/2026 or until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
