Solutions Engineer

The Opportunity:

Everyone is trying to “harness the cloud”, but not everyone knows how. As an aspiring cloud computing infrastructure architect on our team, you’ll learn how to use cutting-edge enterprise cloud platforms to support your clients as they modernize their IT infrastructure and meet their most difficult missions. We’re looking for someone like you to help the environment of our warfighters.

You’ll closely collaborate with cloud architects and engineers specializing in Office 365, Azure, AWS, and GCP to design, define, develop, test, and debug cloud solution components. You’ll have the chance to grow your skills within a DevOps framework to develop and manage container apps and use products like Kubernetes to further the mission. With access to our internal Azure, AWS, and GCP labs, you’ll have the space and time to explore different ways of solving our clients’ challenges, and you’ll work with your team and stakeholders to deliver the right technical solutions. Whether helping to modernize legacy computing platforms and applications or learning to create new ones from scratch, you’ll have the latest tech and brightest teammates at your fingertips.

Grow your skills at the leading edge of innovation.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, through coursework, personal projects, or a home lab environment

  • Experience standing up and managing virtualized or containerized infrastructure, including in a Proxmox cluster, Docker homelab, or Kubernetes sandbox

  • Experience writing automation or infrastructure-as-code scripts, Terraform configs, Ansible playbooks, or CI/CD pipelines in a personal or academic project

  • Experience with AI or ML projects, including RAG pipeline, local model deployed and iterated on, or an LLM-backed tool

  • Knowledge of logging, monitoring, or observability tooling

  • Knowledge of how systems work under the hood

  • Ability to learn a new technology, get to a working implementation, and explain decisions made along the way

  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing, including documentation, README files, write-ups, or technical notes

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a Science, Technology, or Engineering field

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with a major cloud provider beyond basic usage, including deploying and managing workloads, networking and IAM boundaries, and configuration

  • Experience with container orchestration beyond local Docker Kubernetes clusters, including stand-up, breaking, and fixing, in a lab or academic environment

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, including writing and maintaining Terraform modules, Ansible playbooks, or equivalent

  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent built for a real project with deployment targets

  • Experience with secrets management, network segmentation, or access control design

  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and observability stacks, including building dashboards, tuning alerts, and diagnosing incidents, using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or equivalent

  • Experience supporting DoD programs, installations, or defense contractor environments

  • Experience with DoD mission systems or C2 platform integration across NIPR, SIPR, or coalition network environments

  • Experience in a technical lead role with accountability for both the design and the delivery outcome

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
