The Impact You’ll Make:

You’ll be joining the Marketplace Operations team that focuses on marketplace health, optimization and communication. You’ll be the technical backbone of the team as we work to keep both our consumers and retailers happy by making sure things are always running and constantly getting better.

Primary Scope:

  • Tool Building

    • Replacing manual, error prone processes and interfaces (command line, etc.) with tooling that automates steps, includes validation, logs history, reduces the required knowledge and access for operators and saves time. This would use , Python, SQL, Javascript, Macros, low code automation (e.g.)

  • Scripting & Automation

    • Eliminating repetitive toil work and enabling scale of manual tasks by automating tasks using Javascript, Python, SQL, Google Suite, scheduling tools, etc.

  • Business Intelligence

    • Building and maintaining a suite of Marketplace reports and dashboards to facilitate health, optimization and communication. This would be using BI Tools (Looker, Hex, Tableau), SQL, Snowflake, etc.

  • Monitoring & Alerting

    • Eliminating repetitive reviews of data and enabling scale of monitoring using tools and automation to perform regular checks on marketplace data using scripting tools as well as monitoring products like Monte Carlo

Secondary Scope:

  • Occasionally assisting in Marketplace Health & Operations escalations - digging into data to understand issues in our systems

  • Pitching in onMarketplace Experimentation, Analysis & Research

    • Helping to provide data, dashboarding and faster ways to get the answers we’re looking for (bandwidth dependent) to optimize overall experience and results for consumers, retailers and Upside

Competencies you have:

To be successful in this role and on this team, we’re looking for someone who…

  • Loves to quickly and creatively solve problems at scale with technology

  • Has a background in engineering/consulting focused on automation and tool development

  • Doesn’t just want to get handed a spec or requirements doc and told to code it - they want to help design, implement and test it alongside the teams they’re helping

  • Is killer with Python or other scripting languages, SQL, Snowflake, Monte Carlo (or similar monitoring tool)

  • Has a best friend named ChatGPT that helps them learn new things, saves them a ton of time and is always there when they need them

  • Is knowledgeable and experience using APIs, tooling platforms, and doing systems integrations

  • Has Genuine interest in understanding Upside’s business model, marketplace and how we can provide increased value to both our consumers and retailers.

Location:
This hybrid role is required to work at one of our offices in either DC or Austin.. In-office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and may increase based on project-based needs and changes to Upside’s in-office policy over time.
Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $180,000 + equity + benefits. The final starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
