Title: Solutions Architect; Digital Experience Enablement (DXE)

As we shape architectural strategy and standards to enable seamless experiences across USRM, we're driving forward a mission to elevate Customer and Independent Agent Identity and Access Management. Our goal is to deliver secure, stable, and reliable systems that proactively meet the evolving challenges of security, ensuring we stay ahead of threats and fraud. We are hiring a Solutions Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and enablement of Liberty Mutual's Digital Experience Enablement (DXE) platform. This role is front and center in establishing a secure, comprehensive Identity and Access Management Frameworks that delivers account management, access control, governance, and standardization. Beyond identity, DXE is the set of composable capabilities, decisions, and standards that power consistent, seamless, efficient digital experiences across channels and brands within USRM. Your mission is to drive convergence of technologies and personas, reduce sprawl, and deliver reusable platform capabilities that accelerate time-to-value, lower maintenance costs, and increase trust in our brand.
Key responsibilities
  • Own Customer & Agent Identity and Access Management architecture and governance
  • Lead strategy, standards, and roadmaps for customer and agent identity across login, registration, MFA/step-up, account services, password policies, consent, recovery, and migration.
  • Provide ownership and oversight of integration patterns
  • Establish delegated administration, role/rule models (RBAC/ABAC), and provisioning (SCIM) that support independent agents, comparative raters, large franchise agencies, and internal stakeholders (Help Desk, Territory Managers, Security, Compliance).
  • Architect solutions that will unlock the ability for One Agent-One login across Personal Lines and Small Commercial; drive convergences, Ease of Doing Business and retire legacy platforms and implementations.
  • Partner with and liase with peers in Global Cyber Security to stay up to date on security standards and practices.
  • Lead DXE platform strategy and roadmap
  • Align DXE with enterprise goals, the Insurance Reference Platform, and EA Scorecard themes (Increase Value Delivery, Faster Time to Market, Better Data-Driven Decisions, Cost Efficiency).
  • Define and track measurable outcomes: reduce UI component libraries, reduce duplicative personas/experiences, and decrease maintenance
  • Set and govern enterprise standards
  • Establish technical decisions and standards for Web UI frameworks, Web Architecture, Design System implementation, Web Analytics, A/B & multivariate testing, Deployment Stack, Embedded Widgets, and Experience APIs.
  • Implement architecture fitness functions and scorecards to measure adherence; automate policy-as-code where feasible.
  • Provide architectural oversight and patterns
  • Guide complex digital programs across sites and web apps: composable web UI, micro frontends vs. single-app patterns, module federation, BFF patterns, edge rendering, CDN strategy, and performance optimization.
  • Define Experience API patterns (REST/GraphQL), event-driven integrations, and observability standards for customer journeys.
  • Deliver platform enablement
  • Build and evolve reference implementations, SDKs, scaffolding/templates, CI/CD blueprints, reusable components/design tokens (with UX), and instrumentation libraries to accelerate adoption beyond ?generators.?
  • Partner with Observability to deliver first-party, privacy-aware analytics that are streaming- and data-lake-native with automatic instrumentation.
  • Drive convergence of personas and journeys
  • Collaborate with product and UX to define supported user types/personas and consolidate cross-channel journeys to reduce duplication and complexity.
  • Collaborate across strategies and domains
  • Work across API, EDA, ML Ops/Personalization, Customer Data Management (Customer 360), Content Management, Marketing Automation, Mobile, Conversational AI, Omnichannel Communications, Security, and Operations to ensure coherent end-to-end experiences.
  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance
  • Apply privacy-by-design, secure-by-default patterns (OWASP, CSP, OAuth2/OIDC, consent management, PII handling) within DXE standards and enablement assets.
  • Influence, mentor, and communicate
  • Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor to portfolio leadership; lead communities of practice; mentor engineers; communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with aligned Experience/Solutions resources to ensure architectural runway enables/support business goals and aspirations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 10+ years in software engineering/architecture with 5+ years focused on enterprise IAM/CIAM.
  • Hands-on experience with IAM platforms (Auth0 preferred; Azure AD B2C, Ping, ForgeRock, Okta/Auth0) including Universal Login, MFA, anomaly detection, passwordless/risk-based auth, account recovery, and consent
  • Deep expertise in modern web architectures and patterns:
  • UI frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and metaframeworks (e.g., Next.js, Remix, Nuxt); TypeScript; accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA); Core Web Vitals optimization.
  • Rendering strategies (CSR, SSR, SSG, ISR/hybrid), composable UI, micro frontends/module federation, Web Components, BFF, edge computing/CDNs.
  • API and integration:
  • Designing Experience APIs (REST/GraphQL), API-first integration, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis/EventBridge).
  • Platform and cloud:
  • Cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes/serverless, static hosting (e.g., S3), CI/CD, IaC (e.g., Terraform), artifact/package management, monorepos (Nx/Turborepo/Bazel).
  • Data, analytics, and experimentation:
  • First-party analytics, automatic instrumentation, tag management/consent (e.g., Tealium), Adobe Analytics or equivalent, A/B and multivariate testing at scale.
  • Observability and operations:
  • RUM, OpenTelemetry, tracing/logging/metrics, SLOs, incident management, progressive delivery (feature flags, canary, blue/green).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influence skills; able to align diverse stakeholders and drive adoption of standards and platforms.

Qualifications
  • 1.Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 2. At least 10 years of related experience
  • 3. Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded
  • 4. Proficient in all product and system components of technical architecture
  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry
  • 5. Strong influencing and consensus building skills, and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
  • Proven experience with agile practices and expectations
  • 6. Highly developed negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
