The Solution Architect provides technical leadership over multiple software development projects within the IT organization – focusing on Digital platform as a core domain of expertise. This position serves as a technical advisor to senior IT management and mentors junior level technical staff within the organization, but does not have supervisory responsibility. The Solution Architect has a strong understanding of current software frameworks, design principles, and software development tools; and helps to provide continuous improvements to the software development process.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Following Enterprise Architecture guidelines, develops lower level solution design (APIs, schemas, object models, etc.) for highly reliable enterprise systems.

  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of Republic business processes across the Digital, Cloud based,  Low Code/No Code, Web/mobile platforms and Customer Experience domains.

  • Evaluates proposed software development projects and assesses the feasibility of the project and impact on existing systems.

  • Provides technical direction on multiple, concurrent large scale development projects for both on-shore and off-shore teams.

  • Researches and prototypes various emerging technologies for business innovation, improvements in customer experience, and business differentiation through best in class products and technology platforms.

  • Creates / contributes to business cases for product and service value propositions through the use of emerging technologies.

  • Maintains deep, up-to-date expertise and knowledge in multiple areas of technology with detailed focus in the Digital domain.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven success leading multiple, concurrent software development projects.

  • Expertise in design patterns, algorithms and data modeling.

  • Working knowledge of servers, storage, networks and high availability systems.

  • Proven competency in designing and developing multi-tiered enterprise systems.

  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including agile and waterfall methodologies.

  • Fluency in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, Web and Mobile platforms, IoT platforms, Low Code/No Code platforms, Salesforce.com and/or service based integration frameworks.

  • Understanding of Enterprise Services principles such as: SOA, API and services architecture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8 years of relevant experience in enterprise software development.

  • 5 years working with Digital Web/Mobile and/or Cloud based platforms in a developer/architect capacity.

Ideal candidate will have :

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Ability to match technical solutions to project goals and coordinate the analysis, development, and implementation of solutions.

Recycling and Waste

We continue to expand our recycling and waste business footprint throughout North America through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. The 13 million customers we serve and our more than 5 million pick-ups per day provide us with a distinct advantage. We aggregate materials at scale, unlocking new opportunities for advanced recycling. In addition, we are cross-selling new products and services to better meet our customers’ specific needs.

Environmental Solutions

Our comprehensive environmental solutions capabilities help customers safely manage their most technical waste streams. We are expanding both our capabilities and our geographic footprint. SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION

Republic’s recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.
