Position Details

The Toppan Merrill Solution Sales Engineer role is responsible for providing support on an enterprise level software and services solution for various clients. The Solution Sales Engineer has the primary objective of supporting the sales organization who is an “internal” client. The Solution Sales Engineer will work directly with the sales organization to support them in presenting and selling Toppan Merrill software and services. The Solution Sales Engineer will play a critical role in mapping and driving the Toppan Merrill solution and technology discussions during the sales process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support throughout the sales cycle to drive opportunities and revenue.
  • Deliver and customize technical sales presentations on Toppan Merrill products and services and build new presentations for use by sales and the Client Advisory Services (“CAS”) team.
  • Explain product capabilities, limitations, and implementation requirements and describe technical tradeoffs and implementation alternatives while balancing revenue opportunities.
  • Actively participate in sales calls involving complex technical requirements or multiple hardware platforms serving as the lead “technical” resource in the sales cycle.
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions to client requirements while managing client expectations.
  • Responsible for explaining and researching the technical capabilities of Toppan Merrill's products vs. our competition and communicating this to both internal and external audiences.
  • Handles the most complex client and/or technical projects.
  • Research, compose, and deliver responses to RFPs while interacting with clients to clarify requirements and review RFP responses for technical accuracy.
  • Collect business and technical information from clients regarding requirements, partner with Product and Engineering teams on integrating into Toppan Merrill’s product offerings.  Is seen as a Product SME.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to create marketing materials for Product line.
  • Collaborate with Pricing/Finance teams, external vendors and internal resource managers to provide recommendations from market expertise for onboarding pricing and pricing new solutions.
  • Training and mentoring new or lower skilled employees.
  • May lead internal team projects related to process improvements or technology testing.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field a plus

Minimum Experience

  • 3-7 years' experience in a direct client contact and consulting role preferably in technology services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Pro-active ability to anticipate client needs and problem solve solutions.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with internal/external clients/customers in a professional manner.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current on changing regulations and product enhancements.
  • Detailed knowledge of best practices for industry (i.e  accounting, financial disclosures, healthcare, etc).
  • Working knowledge of commonly used software in the industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills – leading through direction and through influence.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

We understand that your skills deserve recognition. That's why we offer a competitive base pay scale ranging from $125,000 – $165,000 annually, based on experience and expertise. Additional pay, including commissions and bonuses, range up to 30% of base pay depending on performance. We believe in compensating our dedicated team members fairly for their hard work and commitment. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
