Job Scope

This Data Solution Architect will be hands-on and collaborate with engineering and foundational tech teams to design, build, and deliver technology solutions with working prototypes for proposed business solution designs and to scale solutions into mature DSG enterprise technology capabilities.  Direct Experience with designing and building Data-Centric, Service-Oriented & Event-Driven Architectures leveraging Cloud Technologies & Services, Enterprise Storage & Compute platforms, Scaled Data Management solutions, and Third-Party SAAS Integrations is desired.

As the Data Solution Architect, you will:

  • Drive and implement data architecture strategies that support our long-term business goals

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to map business goals into technology capabilities leveraging data as a strategic asset across multiple channels including online, in-store, mobile apps, and 3rd party platforms

  • Evaluate, design and demonstrate prototypes for integrating data from multiple 1st and 3rd party sources to create a unified view of enterprise data delivery and storage solutions

  • Work closely with Product Engineering teams to establish Enterprise domain data models, data integration patterns, data governance & lineage, and data platform decisions to accelerate delivery of business data and analytics solutions

  • Ensure the proposed solutions are designed to scale and meet the foundational technology guiderails of platforms alignment, security controls, reliability & performance, and cost management

  • Create and deliver artifacts that assess business & systems impact, document current & transitional system designs, and evaluate non-functional requirements to ensure alignment with foundational technology and planning, and drive adoption of these solutions across teams

  • Assess and mitigate technology design risks, impacts, and dependencies to drive adoption of data architecture standards and best practices and support technology roadmap planning

To be successful in this role, experience in several areas of our technology stack is desired:

  • Python, Java / Kotlin, Kubernetes, SQL queries & tuning

  • Azure Cloud Ecosystem - Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Storage, etc.

  • Cloud-based data warehouses - Snowflake, Big Query, Synapse

  • ETL/ELT data solutions with Medallion architectures

  • Databricks with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, Delta Live Tables (DLT)

  • BI tooling such as PowerBI, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Tableau or Looker

  • Message queue & event stream processing (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streams)

  • Cloud-native Service architectures with Microsoft Azure & Kubernetes

  • End-to-End Scalability, Reliability, and DR solutioning

  • Data management principles: Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Catalog, Data Quality, etc.

  • Data design using tools such as Erwin data modeler a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent Experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in software/data engineering and architecture

  • 2+ years of experience in scaled cloud data engineering technologies

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated experience in developing cloud service architectures & solutions

  • Ability to understand the business context and outcomes of the domain

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate with teams across multiple departments and functions

  • Ability to publish professional architecture artifacts and documentation

  • Ability to provide technical recommendations to technology teams

Targeted Pay Range: $95,200.00 - $158,800.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
