The RoleAspen Technology is looking to hire a Software Quality Engineer I to join our team of Quality Engineers. This individual will be responsible for functional and nonfunctional testing (including Performance and Test Automation testing) of aspenONE Products supporting next generation Asset Optimization solutions.
This is your opportunity to play an important role in this cutting-edge transformation and be a thought leader in the Quality space. A good understanding of software development practices, to help create and execute testing for our market-leading products, is required.
This individual will develop, establish and evangelize test strategies from concept, design, implementation, testing, documentation, support, and maintenance while assuring that the product line conforms to established requirements and standards. This individual will also be responsible for gathering functional requirements, information and data to proactively drive best practices from a quality perspective into the product while collaborating with R&D and Product Management.

Your Impact
  • Design and execute test procedures and objectives based on technical specifications.
  • Perform functional and end-user testing of AspenTech engineering products (e.g., Aspen Basic Engineering, Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS).
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for API, UI, system integration, performance, and scalability testing.
  • Use tools such as PowerShell, Silk Test, Selenium, C#, Python, and VSTS for automation and performance testing.
  • Analyze requirements and create comprehensive test plans.
  • Identify risks and communicate them effectively within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across global development centers (US, MXC, SH) to share updates and review outcomes.
  • Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Evangelize best practices in software quality and testing strategies.
What You'll Need
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field with exposure to software development.
  • Strong foundation in software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices.
  • Ability to innovate and contribute to evolving testing strategies.
  • Experience or coursework in test automation, databases, and testing tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and build relationships across departments.
  • Passion for learning and growing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
