This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, an advanced level of Frontend Engineering experience, the ability to be comfortable in areas of unfamiliarity, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Constantly at the forefront of innovation, we embrace modern tools and technologies, inviting fresh perspectives. The ideal candidate exhibits a passion for key technologies such as React and TypeScript, and champions pragmatic industry practices concerning usability, performance, and automation. If you possess interests across these domains, we aim to nurture and enhance them while offering new opportunities and a chance to learn from you as well.

What you’d be doing:

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between engineering plans, scope, requirements, and business needs.
  • Guide and mentor engineers on your team to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.
  • Manage engineering resources to ensure timely delivery of software features.
  • Monitor and review code quality, testing, and performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Create technical documentation for engineering projects (e.g., React Component designs, API design).
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Research and assess new technologies and trends to determine the best solution for the business.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or relevant experience in software engineering.
  • Experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead, with the ability to build a team, develop people, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience as a software engineer working in a collaborative environment.
  • The ability to encourage a culture of safety, trust, and transparency.
  • The verbal skills to spark debate, solicit input, and share those ideas in verbal and written forms.
  • Experience developing a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, React, and modern frontend development practices.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
  • Familiarity with scalability, security, and performance best practices.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Recent experience leading engineering design sessions for Frontend software.
  • Experience in software engineering in the insurance industry.
