The OpportunityThe LPR (Licence Plate Reader) Integrations team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager / Team Lead to support the rapid expansion of our workload. Our software continues to reach more customers, with new partnerships and integrations on our roadmap. To keep momentum, we need to keep integrating with various data sources that show real-time contextual information on the web, mobile, and through our APIs. The team integrates public safety systems of all sorts, including computer-assisted-dispatch (CAD), 911 live calls, automated vehicle locator (AVL), vehicle hotlists, and other alerts as well as contributing to our developer hub with a growing list of APIs for developers.

Experience with microservice-oriented architecture and designing systems at scale – We process over 1 billion images daily in real-time.
Motivated by taking an unknown problem, sinking your teeth in, and coming up with a plan of attack.
Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and integration.
Proficiency with relational database systems (especially PostgreSQL) and a solid understanding of database design principles
Experience in integrating and syncing data between disparate systems, including resolving data format inconsistencies
Understanding of on-premise networks, including firewalls, VPNs, and network configurations, to ensure seamless system communication and data transfer.
Strong backend/database and pub/sub experience, we leverage Postgres DB, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, Redis (use the right tool for the job)
Experience with Go and Typescript (Node) web services is a plus
Experience with AWS and cloud tooling such as Kubernetes (EKS), AWS Lambda, Docker
The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD systems and databases
Ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external engineering and product teams
Strong collaboration experience with Product Management; on agile process and participating in ceremonies, refinements and estimations

The First 30 Days
Your first 30 days should be spent understanding Flock’s and Platform Integration team processes, products, and code.
Understand the Platform Integration team’s purpose, mission, and how they are going to achieve it
Establish 1:1’s with all team members and understand where they are in assessments via our organizational guides
Be able to contribute to team’s repos and understand the processes we have in place to deliver code
Review Team Agreements, Ceremonies, Tools and Techniques for operational excellence
Have a working understanding of team’s Q3 deliverables and establish a process of reporting their status and risks to me.
The First 60 Days
Starting the process of more clearly and explicitly establishing yourself as the champion of the team, both its people and technology.
Demonstrating full ownership of the Platform Integration team from a technical perspective
Establish 90 day plans with your direct reports
Establish a rough census of confidence in each application and establish a ranking of where attention should go (testing, observability and alerting)
Establishing meetings with peers, stakeholders and topic groups within Flock for the expressed purpose of growth as a manager
90 Days & Beyond
Refining your vision for the team and how you want them to grow and change to support Flock.
You should be building out plans and processes to carry the team through 2025.
Establish a goal oriented team
Have established tracked goals for each reporting engineering member
Have at least 3 of your own goals established with the Platform Integration team in mind for 2025
You are finding opportunities for both your team and you to engage the customers

The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive in your function and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Culture Review: A final opportunity to meet with the Chief People Officer and the CTO.
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of 200,000- 215,000 as well as stock options.
