Who we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams responsible for the design, development, and delivery of core custody and securities processing platforms. This role blends people leadership, technical stewardship, and delivery accountability within a complex, highly regulated financial services environment.

What you will be responsible for

As the Software Engineering Manager – Custody Platforms:

  • Drive end‑to‑end delivery across solution design, development, testing, production release, and support for the global custody platform

  • Own custody platform initiatives, ensuring delivery meets expectations for quality, resiliency, scalability, timeliness, and cost

  • Partner with product, business, custody operations, architecture, infrastructure, risk, and vendor teams to translate requirements into well‑designed technical solutions

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across architecture, system design, and code quality, including design and code reviews

  • Embed and continuously improve Agile delivery practices, including backlog management, sprint execution, and release planning

  • Proactively manage delivery risks, technical debt, project issues, and budget constraints, clearly communicating impacts and mitigation strategies

  • Ensure solutions meet required security, compliance, and operational readiness standards for mission‑critical custody platforms

  • Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Provide technical leadership across hybrid architecture environments, including mainframe (z/OS), open systems, and cloud-native platforms

  • Drive end-to-end solution design spanning mainframe applications, distributed systems, and cloud-based services (AWS/Azure)

  • Ensure robust data architecture and engineering practices, including design and optimization of Db2, Oracle, and relational database platforms

  • Lead modernization initiatives, including mainframe-to-cloud integration, API enablement, and event-driven architectures

  • Oversee system design and engineering standards covering scalability, performance tuning, high availability, and resiliency across platforms

  • Guide teams on secure coding, data integrity, and compliance standards across legacy and cloud environments

  • Provide escalation leadership during production incidents and major releases, ensuring rapid issue resolution and stakeholder communication

  • Drive increased automation and straight‑through processing, including use of AI and Agentic AI to improve exception management, reconciliation, and operational efficiency

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Proven technology leadership experience supporting custody platforms, securities processing, or post‑trade systems (e.g., settlements, asset servicing, corporate actions)

  • Strong expertise across mainframe technologies (z/OS, COBOL, JCL, Db2) and distributed/open systems ecosystems (Java, Linux, middleware)

  • Deep understanding of database design and data engineering, including Db2, Oracle, and cloud-based data platforms

  • Proven ability to architect and integrate hybrid environments (mainframe + cloud + distributed systems)

  • Strong technical grounding in systems design, data models, and enterprise integration patterns

  • Experience driving modernization and migration strategies, including mainframe optimization and cloud transformation

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence across global organizations

  • Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities in complex environments

  • Demonstrated success building, mentoring, and leading high‑performing engineering teams

  • Ability to balance hands‑on technical depth with people leadership and strategic execution

  • Experience delivering large, complex, global technology programs

  • Hands‑on experience with AI, machine learning, and Agentic AI in enterprise environments; familiarity with mainframe technologies and integration patterns preferred

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in technology or program management roles within financial services.

  • 6+ years of experience working in an Agile ecosystem.
