Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Support and Operations team. This team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Cat Digital portfolio of applications. They continuously identify opportunities to improve software support through innovative development and automation solutions.
What you will do:
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Python-based applications and scripts to support operational needs.
  • Collaborate with support teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by clients.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Create and maintain documentation for support processes, tools, and systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in support operations.

What you will have:
  • Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
  • Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Consideration for top candidates:
  • Experience in designing and developing software applications in Python, RESTFul APIs, Software Repo (GitHub)
  • Experience in a Cloud-native environment (AWS, Azure, GCP), with an intermediate technical understanding of cloud services, architecture, operations, cost management and support
  • AIOps - Ability to support large language model
  • Experience with least-privilege IAM security implementation, unit testing, and integration testing
  • Experience with third-party monitoring tools (ThousandEyes, BigPanda, Datadog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk and similar Observability Tools)
  • Knowledge of data technology products and components for Big Data and Cloud (AWS, Snowflake, and similar).

Additional Details:
This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL.

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $142,200.00
