About the company
Our client is a fast-growing software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and build high-volume backend services and supporting front-end applications for a software platform. The work covers API design, connections to older systems, performance tuning and quality automation, in a setting where releases are frequent and customer input shapes priorities.
What you'll do
- Design scalable, generic solutions that let many different external systems be accessed through one consistent interface.
- Build secure, reliable connections to older on-premises systems, adding real-time communication where it is not natively available.
- Develop backend services that handle a large daily volume of API requests, with efficient data storage, retrieval and caching to keep latency low.
- Release code frequently and iterate quickly using direct input from customers.
- Put automated test coverage in place that surfaces unusual cases and regressions across a large set of endpoints.
- Build front-end applications that consume the company's own APIs, and use that experience to improve API design.
- Research each new integration in depth, since every system has its own quirks and challenges.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- An undergraduate computer science degree from a highly ranked US or Canadian school, not a bootcamp; candidates with a degree from elsewhere need a computer science master's from a highly ranked US or Canadian school plus experience at a top-tier company.
- Clear signs of excellence, such as a strong school, standout results at a reputable startup, or other notable accomplishments.
- Recent experience at a small, early-stage technology startup, with only limited time at later-stage or public companies.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS.
- Genuine interest in backend and systems engineering rather than a main focus on working in AI.
- A driven, independent and humble working style, taking real ownership and enjoying a fast-paced team while helping build a strong engineering culture.
