There is so much more Compass can do, and it needs your experience building modern cloud services to evolve and create products that improve every step of the real estate agents’ experience from the first contact with a client to the close of a deal. You will have the opportunity to work across the entire real estate journey, working with technology that aggregates millions to billions of interactions, listings, transactions, and other data. 


In this role you will be at the center of the Compass platform, providing our agents the tools they need to manage and engage with millions of residential real estate clients. 

What you will do:  

  • Work in a startup-like environment building agile products and services
  • Design and build distributed, event-driven microservices
  • Independently define, decompose, and lead delivery of complex projects 
  • Perform code reviews, design reviews, and write high quality tests
  • Become the subject matter expert for one or more services in your domain
  • Create clear and concise documentation (diagrams, service descriptions, decisions, runbooks)
  • Own and operationally improve services in your domain throughout their lifecycle
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks to address inefficiencies in the developer experience 

What we look for: 

  • BS in CS or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience with languages such as Java or Golang
  • Experience with Kafka and Ruby on Rails is a plus
  • Experience designing and building cloud-based services
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based services (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, microservices architecture, and continuous integration and delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $126,990-$141,100; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
