Senior Software EngineerPosition Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at TraceLink, you’ll design, build, test, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable software across our cloud platform. You’ll independently own complex features from discovery through production, lead technical implementation, collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and help continuously improve our engineering practices.

AI-assisted engineering is a core part of how we work. You’ll use approved AI tools to accelerate design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and analysis while applying strong engineering judgment to ensure quality, security, and maintainability.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications, APIs, distributed systems, integrations, and event-driven workflows.

  • Own complex features end-to-end, including technical design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, and production support.

  • Lead technical delivery for complex stories, epics, and cross-team initiatives.

  • Evaluate technical approaches, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs and provide reliable estimates.

  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, Security, Operations, Support, and other engineering teams.

  • Build secure, performant, maintainable, observable, and well-tested software.

  • Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and peer code reviews.

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and deliver durable solutions.

  • Create clear technical documentation, including designs, APIs, data models, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing and engineering best practices.

  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, testing, debugging, documentation, estimation, and productivity while validating generated output.

  • Continuously improve system reliability, engineering workflows, and technical quality.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent expertise.

  • Strong Java development experience.

  • Experience building RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.

  • Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms.

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, secure development, and modern engineering practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex features from design through production.

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience responsibly using AI-assisted engineering tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with RxJava or functional programming.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, microservices, and distributed computing.

  • Experience with large-scale enterprise SaaS platforms.

  • Experience designing versioned APIs and shared business object models.

  • Experience with identity, authorization, auditing, and security-focused design.

  • Experience developing software for regulated industries, pharmaceutical, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical delivery.

TraceLink is committed to providing competitive compensation and benefits to all employees. This is the estimated base salary range for this role and should serve only as a guide. Final compensation offered may vary based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience level, fit for the role, skills, domain knowledge, internal equity, budget, and location.

US Pay Range
$151,999.74$189,263.73 USD
