About This Opportunity

The Incubation team is a forward-thinking team on a mission to explore and harness existing and emerging technologies to build the next generation of innovative products. In this role, you will focus on technical discovery and early-stage development on products that can establish the groundwork for new Iron Mountain products and solutions.
We’re looking for a curious, driven, and technically talented intern to help us dive deeper into these fields and translate insights into real-world product opportunities.

The team works quickly to vet and prove out both the customer use case and the supporting technical solution, with the goal of quickly launching a Proof-of-Concept and/or a pilot MVP solution.

The Incubation Team assesses the viability of ideas and collaborates to design and develop technologies that will achieve the idea’s objectives. This role therefore requires a fast-learner, someone who is comfortable working in all tiers of a modern application stack. The ideal candidate will be instinctively collaborative and have a passion for software development and some awareness or experience with one or more technologies in each of the layers of a typical full-stack solution. Additionally, they will exhibit the ability to efficiently discover and learn new technologies and demonstrate solid communication skills and the ability to share ideas and opinions with diverse stakeholders in a collegial, collaborative manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Explore emerging trends, protocols, and frameworks in the blockchain (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger, Solana) landscapes.
   

• Prototype small-scale technical experiments to evaluate the feasibility of novel blockchain concepts.
   

• Collaborate with our product and engineering teams to shape ideas into potential product directions based on your findings.
   

• Document insights, architectures, and lessons learned to support ongoing strategy and development efforts.
   

• Contribute to existing code to apply and/or improve the use of these technologies

What We’re Looking For

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Ability to work and express oneself in a respectful and collaborative manner

• Some programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or Rust.

• Exposure to or strong interest in blockchain technologies and AI/ML concepts.

• Ability to learn quickly and think critically about complex systems.

• Comfort with ambiguity and a passion for exploring new frontiers in tech.

• Bonus: Experience with smart contract development, NLP models, or decentralized application (dApp) architecture.

This is an amazing role for someone who thrives learning new technical skills. Iron Mountain’s Incubation team is relatively new, but we enjoy high visibility within the company. Most of our team works remotely. Remote candidates may reside in any country in which Iron Mountain operates as long as the majority of your workday falls during business hours in the US Eastern time zone
