We are looking for a talented Software Engineer II to join our AI knowledge team. The knowledge team oversees development and operationalization of our multi-million node entity knowledge graph, which powers Dataminr's real-time event detection and alerting platform.
As a Software Engineer II, you will apply your experience in software engineering, data engineering, and AI to shape the future of Dataminr's automated alert generation at massive scale. Working with a diverse group of engineers, data scientists, and AI researchers, you will participate in initiatives related to efficient data extraction, alignment, normalization, and ingestion into our entity knowledge graph. You will develop and apply AI solutions that ensure the recency and quality of the information stored in the knowledge graph. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in scalable software architectures, cloud native development, and distributed systems to create a robust Knowledge Platform that enables Dataminr's mission of sending real-time alerts that save lives. This US-based role can be remote or based out of our New York City office.

The opportunity 

  • Participate in initiatives supporting the development of Dataminr's Knowledge Platform.

  • Design and develop pipelines and services for extracting, aligning, normalizing, and ingesting data into a knowledge graph.

  • Work with other talented software engineers, data scientists and AI researchers to develop new capabilities that fuse knowledge and AI for automated alerting at scale.

  • Develop and apply AI-powered solutions that automate data quality assessments and data updates to the knowledge graph.

  • Develop tools and capabilities that simplify knowledge graph data access and management, including the use of LLMs.. 

  • Work on AI-focused applications of the knowledge graph that enable essential capabilities like Named Entity Recognition (NER), Entity Linking (EL), and hallucination mitigation (GenAI/LLM).
     

What you bring

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience, including experience with algorithms, data structures, and software design principles

  • Proficiency in programming languages used for data processing and AI, such as Python, Java, Scala, and C/C++

  • Solid understanding of core data engineering concepts and workflows including ETL pipelines, data cleansing and normalization, data enrichment, schema design, and data provenance.

  • Prior experience working with knowledge graphs is a plus.

  • Prior experience with AI is a plus.

  • Experience with cloud-native development and distributed systems is a plus.

  • M.S. in Computer science. Ph.D. studies in any field is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,800 - $160,000. Actual salary will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
