About The Opportunity
We are looking for an early-career engineer to join our Reach and Retain team and help us grow our diner acquisition and retention capabilities. Our team is a collaborative group of smart, humble people who are passionate about connecting diners with great food experiences. Within Grubhub, you will be directly involved with building features that help us reach new customers and keep existing ones engaged through our CRM, SEO, and SEM initiatives.
The Reach and Retain Engineering team is responsible for building features that support our customer acquisition and retention strategies. We work on CRM systems, SEO optimization tools, and SEM campaign management platforms that help connect the right diners with Grubhub at the right time. Learning, growth, collaboration, and technical excellence are always at the forefront of what we do.
The Impact You Will Make

• Contribute to technical work in assigned areas, owning well-defined deliverables with guidance from your manager and senior team members
• Work collaboratively with designers, product owners, and other engineers to implement and test features that drive business growth through improved customer reach and retention
• Learn and apply established development processes, coding standards, and quality practices while building your technical skills in our technology stack
• Write automated tests with guidance and participate in code reviews as part of the development process
• Work to familiarize yourself with established quality standards and development best practices
• Monitor, debug, and resolve low complexity performance issues with assistance from senior team members
• Communicate clearly and effectively within your team on technical tasks and actively listen during discussions
• Seek assistance in managing expectations around the delivery of your work and ask for help when issues take longer to implement than expected
• Work to build an understanding of your technical area and how it fits into the broader business objectives

What You Bring to the Table

• Strong computer science fundamentals from a college degree in Computer Science, a related field of study, or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years of experience in web development, including familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks
• Some practical experience with React web development and exposure to TypeScript
• Experience working with teams and communicating technical ideas with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Understanding of the importance of automated testing, code reviews, and following coding standards
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, established processes, and adapt as they evolve
• Ability to tackle small, well-defined technical issues with some guidance and ask for help when needed
• Familiarity with software reliability concepts and basic understanding of production-quality code practices
• Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation tools, or customer data platforms (preferred)
• Knowledge of SEO best practices or SEM campaign optimization (preferred)
• Understanding of networking and UI development best practices
• Experience with performance monitoring and debugging techniques (preferred)

Base Salary
New York: $121,000 - $129,000
Wonder Group uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
